What kind of nonsense is this from the BBC?! All very "both sides", which will absolutely not be the case. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c39evykp3kzo "Police arrest 15 people after anti-racism and anti-immigration protests" #glasgow #protest Anyone there who can shed any light on what really happened, and who (from which group) was arrested?

@kbm0@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us When things stop making sense to us, maybe the questions being asked aren't the ones we think they are? Perhaps when powerful people get together,, and this same crap keeps on happening, it's because they know what they are doing?
It can't be that all of the accidents and idiocy and mistakes, from almost all sections of politics and the media, just happen to be going very clearly in one direction. You'd have to be some kind of mad coincidence theorist to think that.
Only saw the Argentina v Egypt game up to 0-2, and I had a strong sense then that the refereeing was unequal. The usual non-refereeing for large parts, except for soft free kicks to Argentina. The focus might be on decisions around goals, but that's only part of the picture. #corruption #FIFA

@kbm0@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us I don't think voters really come into it. The votes all safely land in broadly the same political area anyway, that's the point. Yes, tough choices are usually "we're taking something from you and giving it to someone else".

@kbm0@mastodon.social @ChrisMayLA6@zirk.us I agree that plenty of it is structural. But also seems clear to me that people are getting together to do one thing, and say another. At best, it shows that most political parties are subject to the same forces, are going in one direction, and absolutely cannot be trusted.
When we talk about the consumption of materials, there's the 3Rs slogan "reduce, reuse, recycle". Obviously that's mostly lip-service, but still. For energy consumption, there's not even lip-service to reducing consumption, it's straight to generating. #greenwashing

@jessuvaleria Not having Jota and Diaz (even Nunez), nor their replacements, nor a decent Salah, doesn't help.
It's not just dangerous for those with pre-existing conditions. Smoke pollution is dangerous for everyone, and increases risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, dementia etc. Very misleading to say it's basically only a problem for people with conditions like asthma. #pollution #manchester https://x.com/UKHSA_NorthWest/status/2077455670027141484
When the moors are burning, there should be restrictions on other polluting activity: shut down certain factories, blanket ban on barbecues, no fireworks, limit flights and other traffic. Might incentivise a change in behaviour (individual, and in landscape management). Though in my opinion, these things should happen regardless #wildfires #airquality #manchester #pollution
