When passed away in his 80s in June 2022, he had around 60,000 or so books spread out on the 4 floors of his house in Mettingen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The books likely weigh about the same as 15 modern cars. 📚 <br /><a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/library" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>library</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/BookCollection" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BookCollection</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/collection" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>collection</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Germany" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Germany</span></a></p><p>h/t <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://home.social/@BrianJopek" class="u-url mention">@<span>BrianJopek</span></a></span></p> @davidaugust@mastodon.online @BrianJopek@home.social did they double as insulation

This allows them to control the amount of air they take in and helps them distinguish smells better. Plus, the shape of the nostrils helps them determine the direction of a smell too! Amazing, right? 🐶😊</p><p><a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/truffledogs" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>truffledogs</span></a> <a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/dogtrainer" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>dogtrainer</span></a> <a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/dogtraining" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>dogtraining</span></a> <a href="https://writing.exchange/tags/DogsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DogsOfMastodon</span></a></p> @TruffleDogs@writing.exchange I also learned they can sense heat with that nose. Amazing.

It was lined with Beto signs and MAGA (Mothers Against Greg Abbott) signs. I thought the guy was going to lose. Then I went to vote and watched the machine change my Beto vote to Abbott. Yes, I fixed it…but it had already been fixed. @AnnaBaxter@mindly.social @birdpoof@universeodon.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social https://www.texastribune.org/2022/10/28/texas-voting-machines/ The Texas Tribune No, Texas voting machines aren’t switching your votes - The Texas Tribune Sensitive touch screens aren’t always user friendly and make it easy for voters to accidentally select the wrong candidate. Voters should carefully review their ballots before submitting them.

GOP have "fixed" the system so much and for so long that they guarantee their power over the state no matter what happens in elections. @birdpoof@universeodon.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social Texas voted for Abbott

I mean, a huge percent did, sure, but how did the 2021 GOP gerrymandering factor in. @birdpoof@universeodon.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social gerrymandering wouldn’t effect a state wide election, voter suppression, but the vote was overwhelmingly for Abbott so voter suppression is probably not to be blamed for that number spread.
