And lastly, a re-up for next week's Q&A with Ofcom for people running small, low risk sites and forums, who have questions about Online Safety Act compliance

Reading group with @karenhao@mas.to on 11 November will be amazing. I'm still reading Empire of AI and my eyes have rolled so far to the top of my head they may never drop down

Going to pull out links to events separately - please share and come along.
We're running 3 online community events for people to feedback on the Hopeful Tech charter and develop the theory of change, work out what's next and generally spend time with good people

Hello hivemind. I'm going to be in Utrecht Monday evening/Tuesday next week for a workshop and have a bit of downtime. What and who should I do and see?

@ultrazool@mastodon.scot that must be a buttondown issue, sorry. Have you signed up to other newsletters hosted on that platform? We're going to move to another provider soon but yes - there'll be a follow-up newsletter in the next week-ish with some updates and events etc

@kintyre I'm really sorry you didn't find it useful. I don't even think it's a political issue now - the problem is that (a) the Act is too broad and (b) no one thought about the Web beyond massive corporates. However, I (perhaps optimistically) think that it is good feedback to Ofcom to keep asking these questions. Also, the big indicator to me is that small sites are at very low risk of actual enforcement.
