From the JS side, it works as expected (logging .textContent shows "blocking").
Even if you trigger a sync layout in JS (with .getBoundingClientRect()), the UI isn't updated until after the blocking code returns.
It looks like they over-optimized the rendering scheduler.

Assuming setStatus is synchronous (or scheduled for the upcoming microtask queue which is drained immediately after synchronous code is done), the UI should be updated and this would be a Safari bug...

If I were a governement agency tasked with planting software exploits, I'd have several full time agents employed at major compiler vendors and/or on relevant technical committees, all pushing for all kind of exotic UBs that can be subtly exploited down the line.

@webreflection@mastodon.social Yes, many of us framework writers came upon the abstraction independently. Claudia Meadows had, unbeknown to me, petition for this too (before your own proposal).
An abstraction like this is needed if you want to create a declarative framework that supports dynamic fragments without vdom (I had it subbed as a `DOMRange` in my own framework, but it was not a fully fledged quasi-DOM node as you're proposing).
It would be better to have make it native.
