Got ill, now knits a lot.

Knitting a sweater for my mother.
Picked out pattern, bought yarn, but realized when swatching that the cabled portion of the pattern looks 'messy'. Not user error, just design choices that don't align with my taste.
So now I'm re-designing the cables. As one does.
I'm not sure if this is a healthy use of skill and passion or a problematic obsession 😂
It. Is. Done.
Now all that's left is waiting for wet yarn to dry and snipping off the ends.

Knitting a heel turn.
Wondering why there's such a weird gaping space between the stitches in the middle of my row.
Maybe I need to take a break.

To go on my Marius sweater:
* 10-12 cm (4-5 inches) of stockinette on 3 mm (US 2.5) needles
* 5 cm (2 inches) of 1x1 rib on 2,5 mm (US 1,5)
288 stiches per round.
Am I going to finish this weekend?
This is fascinating and absolutely amazing.
People are doing rocket science and quantum mechanics, and yet no one has invented a knitting needle that displays the current number of stitches it's holding.
Disappointing.

I dropped a stitch when attaching yarn for a forethought heel. Toe down sock, stitch on the toe-side of the hole so the stitches are 'upside down'. I cannot get my brain around how to pick it up properly. Anyone with a (link to a) good explanation? I really don't want to unravel the whole foot.
Edit: it’s technically picked up in the pic, but it doesn’t look right in the red/pink colorwork (gaping stitches). I’m looking for the correct way to fix.

Haha, kind of. It's about 30 minutes of straight knitting per stockinette-cm, so it's doable but will take some effort. I want to wear it though!
