The less appealing, smaller apples were kept apart and eventually used for a little bit of marmalade. It's my first time trying, hence the small quantity, and I am not too pleased with how chunky it came out. I will look for another recipe or feedback on how to get it more smooth. #wild #apple #forage #jam #marmalade #preservation #slowlife #homestead #italy #permaculture

@econetwork@mas.to Depending on the variety (unknown) you might be able to harvest them at the start of Summer, plant again, and have a second harvest before Winter, but I would personally keep them there for one big pre-Winter harvest, as larger potatoes store better. As someone else already said, dig a couple up, if they are good for you, you can harvest all of them or wait some more. If the season is still long, leave some for a second harvest.

@econetwork@mas.to Adding to the conversation about "how do I know the right time?" Potatoes can stay in the soil however long you want (barring frost and heavy rain, which cause rot). The longer they stay, the more they grow, the more risks of disease/pest/animals they incur in.
