This is an amazingly humoristic but also tragic criticism (because it nails it) of AI chatbots which so many companies and societies are adopting amd embracing

From the very right to the very left there is already a huge backlash against AI and data centeres in the US https://www.nytimes.com/2026/04/27/technology/ai-artificial-intelligence-backlash.html?rsrc=flt&unlocked_article_code=1.eVA.65ZU.f_BnOHwOW3C7&smid=url-share
Humans are losing the ability to think. It started w the smartphone in the 2010s and w generative AI we need to use it carefully and not let it take over our thinking. Just as we understans the importance of diet and exercise in the physical world, we need a digital nutrition plan. We need to train our brains. May be consuming a few dozen book pages a day should become the new 10,000 daily steps — to maintain cognitive fitness.
Very good read. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/27/opinion/technology-mental-fitness-cognitive.html?unlocked_article_code=1.W1A.78td.slRYbAGWv4t0&smid=url-share
Infinite scroll, algorithmic recommendations and autoplay videos are designed to entice and hook young users to compulsively engage with the platforms....
Very important win in courtcase against Meta and Google. But a decade too late.
In the EU, according to the DSA, these manipulative design festured can be labelled 'dark patters' and are illegal.
Let's hope that AI chatbots, which are most often also designed to manipulate, can be stopped sooner...
Patrick Galey, the head of investigations for the Global Witness climate campaign, said: “We have a handful of years until our carbon budget is exhausted.
“To waste what little bandwidth we have left – when 750 million people worldwide lack access to electricity – assisting some of the richest men ever to hone their plagiarism bots would be a historic idiocy that future generations are unlikely to forgive today’s leaders for.”
With the rise in AI slop, we tend to distrust more and more, even when it is true. And if you factcheck w generative AI you risk getting an authoritative answer from the machine. Academics, journalists and others have a rising responsibility in fact-checking while big tech makes money on slop.
How machines can fuck up human brains. There should be a warning on them against any excessive use. And to not use them for personal problems.

AI Big Tech argues the U.S. is in a race with China for technological supremacy, and thus the sprint has existential stakes. But what can unite Americans across any political opinion is too fast AI.
Hear these 9 individuals leading the fight for humans over data centers, AI film slop, loss of human dignity, surveillance …
Let’s hope these huge protest will not reach Europe as almost everything else fra America. We’re smarter in implementing AI, right?

One guy is letting an AI agent talk w his parents in Australia. Another one let his agent buy an expensive sponsorship, he could not pay for, in Davos for a speaking slot.
In these two free articles you can read about the race for AI agents build mainly by young males.
After Trump’s ignorance of the environmental crisis and his bombing of iran while he is laughing, this is the third craziest thing humans are doing in the name of profit.
US tech virksomheder som Google, Anthropic, Palantir, OpenAI samt mange små forsvars-startups nyder godt af den AI-drevne US-Israel krig mod Iran. Ingen vil kommentere på det.

Must read. But another sad story about AI’s effect on critical thinking
No, Claude is not an ethical choice.
Claude is part of the war machine; even with humans putatively in the loop, it may have been responsible for many deaths.
Amodei pretty much follows Sam Altman’s playbook, of constant hype and overpromising (on AGI and fear if AI's capabilities), and the LLM is illegally trained on copyrighted content.
RE: @dangillmor@mastodon.social
We’ve seen it before w OpenAI. Be careful w companies claiming to be good…. Check their governance model, if they can take private money etc. I really hope Signal @Mer__edith@mastodon.world will not follow suit???
In Denmark, many are dissatisfied wind turbines and solarcell fields. What the Americans worry about is the hunt for land where huge ugly data centers can fullfill the need for thirsty AI.
