The legal system has been completely taken over while a tsunami of new laws are being passed including facilitation of mining and digital surveillance, deeply cutting transfers to local authorities or elimination of debts of Noboa's family. 2025 was the most violent year in Ecuadorian history while prisoners are dying of malnutrition and tuberculosis in the jails. Noboa is an unconditional admirer of Donald Trump, of course. The Banana Republic of Ecuador is 21st century oligarchic necropolitics in its purest form.
