I mentioned reading it to J and he said he did some book covers for her years ago. Apparently she wasted no time cracking onto him and sent him cufflinks and other trinkets in the post. And bloody good on her! She would have been in her 80s by then.

It’s so weird telling people you’re pregnant. There’s a small voice in the back of my head saying “omg now your boss knows you’re a shagger!” like mate I am 36.

I'm reading The Benefactors by Wendy Erskine. Would recommend to anyone, but especially anyone who's had to make sense of their relative class position surrounded by wealthier people (aka me at uni).

The neighbour who I accidentally found having sex basically outside my door now no longer chats with me and I'm sad! But I respect the fact she's probably mortally embarrassed and no matter how much I try to convey non-judgement when I see her, she probably has enormous everlasting hangxiety over it. There is no social rulebook for this one.

This morning my cat twigged that I’m up the duff and it was one of the nicest moments of my life ever. She wouldn’t stop laying across me, purring and giving me the loveliest head rubs. I love Mabel 😭
