@f00fc7c8@kind.social Very interesting history. Did Diaspora have any further influence? Maybe their code? I remember being hopeful about it... but it never seemed to gather traction.

#Wikipedia rabbit hole: False Dimitri I - Tsar of Russia from 1605.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_Dmitry_I

Claimed to be the son of Ivan the Terrible, who disappeared at age 8. His mother went: "Sure, seems legit".

9 days into his reign: "His body was hacked to pieces, burned, and then the ashes fired from a cannon towards Poland."

But wait... a couple years after, Tsar False Dimitri II enters the scene.

A useful talk about privacy on the internet. It starts with good reasons why it matters. Then gives some basic tips and ends with some more radical tactics to avoid tracking... which I'm not sure are necessary in the EU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0IfCfhOHN4 #Privacy #Tracking #VPN #Cookies #DigitalPrivacy #Cybersecurity #OpSec

@Tibor@mastodon.social I see benefit in having a distinction between noteworthy accounts and "paid $8" accounts. Though so far, they are still all blue.

@boby_biq@toot.community And that images are high quality. It's bizarre how the mega-corporations that dominate the market can't manage to deliver clean high res images in free formats.
