Called third strike to win it for USA has all the majesty of a 6-3 SCOTUS opinion written by Roberts with a concurrence by Alito

Bluesky down. O, for the old FailWhale
I think the reason the current “tinned fish” trend irks me is that it takes something really simple and often very affordable and makes it super pretentious. It is especially pretentious to hear Americans say “tinned fish” because we don’t say “tinned” anything here
A neat thing that I have gotten into: QMK firmware for keyboards and mice. Enormous potential to make things more comfortable/convenient. Good normie-friendly tools in Win/MacOS. But on Linux, the attitude is still "fuck you learn to code". Doesn't help that documentation is scattered, hard to come by, and often amounts to "here's a Discord, go beg"
Genuinely annoying/exhausting

The zone was horseshit all night (the third strike on Soto in the 8th was also outrageous)
This is like the NoVa version of when India and Pakistan have that full-dress face-off at the border gate right https://www.arlnow.com/2026/04/14/historic-boundary-stone-gets-new-plaque-and-fence-at-arlington-fairfax-line/

When I read History at Cambridge, Peter Burke used to give a lecture on cultural boundaries in early modern Europe. He would stand in front of a map of Europe, drawing lines with a pointer, dividing the continent up like this: butter vs olive oil. Wheat vs. rye. It was one of the neatest (and tersest) lectures I remember going to.
The AM4 platform is clearly goated

Americans are skipping real doctors because a quick check with the AI chatbot costs nothing and a visit to the doctor costs money (or requires health insurance they do not have)
So much of American life would be solved by universal access to health care.
Realized I have free will so I walked to get some froyo
ARE WE NOT MEN? WE ARE DEVO!
There is something beautiful when you see two people being friendly in a language that neither of them dominates.
New trackball day: Ploopy Classic. I like it but might end up flashing the firmware to change the button layout
I am upset at how much I have found myself enjoying the fancy "Fishwife"-branded canned fish. Tried the canned rainbow trout today for lunch and it was just lovely on some bread. The sardines are also excellent. Just mad they're so expensive, esp. when I remember good sardines as cheap food

Honestly I agree. If a device gets EOL'd, you should have to open-source the software needed to run the device.
Alternative Uses for the Boox Go Color 7
The Boox Go Color 7 and a Bluetooth keyboard I have recently been using my Boox Go Color 7 e-reader a lot. The ability to carry, say, all of Gibbon's History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire in a tiny package and read a chapter or so at a time is pretty neat. The e-ink display and modest SOC mean that battery life is measured in days rather than hours.

Built myself an ersatz-Steam Machine out of spare parts—is there some reason why Game Mode won’t let me see a game’s system requirements on its store page ?
hey is Archive.org down for anyone else
DC United are going to find a way to lose a match where they scored 4 goals
A good piece that gets to something that has also been bugging me: all the consumer AI use cases seem unreal and aimed at the 1%

Lately it seems everyone is super into Warhammer 30K but I find the lore just TOO GrimDark for me. My preferred dystopias are still Battletech and Cyberpunk
Please AMD or somebody release this as a half-height card (even with a blower fan) so people can still upgrade off-lease business desktops

I pretty spectacularly missed a clue about the Roxy Music original of this song on-air during my Jeopardy run, and I have since become a fan of the song...I just like Natalie Merchant's vocals more
This one goes out to all my fellow lawyers: guys, it is time to stop underlining text. Especially do not underline bold text. Especially do not do it with long passages of ALL CAPS. I know there may be statutes or rules that prescribe "conspicuous" text but you are making shit illegible.

Does anyone actually use snap? ubuntu's insistence on snap packages is probably the main reason I have dropped them as my go-to Linux distro https://www.phoronix.com/news/Ubuntu-More-Devpacks-Future
