Open Terms Archive
Big Tech services benefit from the opaqueness of their terms. We make them transparent.
Open Terms Archive publicly records every version of the terms of digital services to enable democratic oversight.
Within 24 hours of #TikTok splitting its 🇺🇸 operations from the global ones, all of its legal documents have been updated in every jurisdiction. We have a first look at it thanks to @tk@social.apreslanu.it.

Detailed analysis to come in the next few days, but our data with clean diffs is already out there for anyone wanting to have a deeper look and do their own #TermsSpotting!

We’re honoured to present at the “Résilience numérique européenne et géopolitique” event hosted by @chavalarias@mastodon.social in Paris on Jan 20th, alongside speakers such as Nicolas Guillou (the 🇫🇷 ICC judge sanctioned by 🇺🇸), @robin@mastodon.social and @HenriVerdier@mamot.fr.

We will share our findings on regulation effects beyond strict compliance (such as market withdrawal), and how effective #PlatformRegulation is all about regulator ability to enforce, or “threat credibility”.
Reliable tracking of Terms of Service is core to Open Terms Archive’s role in strengthening platform transparency and accountability.
