Bruit Alien,
Sounds of Alienocene
A continuous sound flow in constant expansion, Bruit Alien is created and recreated through aggregates, collisions, and re-emissions. By colliding layers of inhuman sounds, noises between signals, echoes of cosmic and a-acosmic caresses, rumblings from the depths of the earth, clamor from the stars, whispers from the cosmic microwave background, waves from meteors, and post-Copernican discussions, Bruit Alien interprets Frédéric Neyrat's concept of the alienocene on the radio and from multiple perspectives.
During the Interference S #5 - Sound Substrate Festival, from September 12 to 28 in Paris, ∏Node, at the invitation of the CWB, is offering a radio stream entitled Bruit Alien (Alien Noise), the Sounds of the Alienocene, which will run for the entire duration of the festival.
This stream is open to any sound contribution of any kind that echoes the themes of Alienocene magazine, whose principles we seek to embrace: experiences of cosmology, the inhuman, the unspeakable, the formless, the alien... Please be aware that the stream will agglomerate the sound pieces together, thereby slightly distorting them.To contribute, please send us a file in 320kbps stereo mp3 format with the metadata filled in (artist name, track title, year).
We posted a complete rehearsal during our residency at La Générale here:

@nvsm@tldr.nettime.org and @pali_m@mastodon.tetaneutral.net duo Feral Bands use radio waves and environmental electromagnetic interference as the sole sources for their sound performances. Exploring the spectrum to reveal its unexpected musicality, the resulting concert is specific to each venue where it is performed.
Feral Bands' research is based on the radical evolution of today's electromagnetic landscape, marked not only by the massive bandwidth requirements of smartphones, but also by the abandonment of some waves, which have become feral, returned to the wild. These frequencies, such as long- and medium-wave (LW/MW), where amplitude-modulated (AM) radio used to operate, now give space to phenomena that are no longer intended for human ears: interference, “natural radio” phenomena linked to climate and terrestrial electromagnetic disturbances, or parasitic radiation from electrical infrastructures.

METEOR ECHO, France, 10th August.
Every year, in early August, the Earth passes through the debris field left behind by a comet. Its dust burns up as it enters the atmosphere at high speed, creating trails that streak across the sky. For a brief moment, these shooting stars create a reflective effect for certain radio waves. It is then possible to “hear” the shooting star.
A special antenna and radio have been set up in Saint-Chels, France the 10th August, tuned to the frequency of a powerful radar located in Dijon.
Sporadically, a sound emerges from the noise: it is the rebound on the shooting star of the wave emitted in Dijon that reaches us.
By revealing this energy that passes through us, this device manifests the tenuous but tangible connection that links us to the star. A radio-astrology of micro-listening, which projects us toward the night sky, even when the full moon prevents us from observing it closely...
Thanks Samia El hadj for the help and Laurie Anne Estaque for the drawing

Here is a little interview I made for Free City Radio (CKUT, CKUW, Met Radio, Radio Alhara...) with Stefan Christoff. To quote him:
"Nicolas shares reflections on the ways that projects he has worked on aim to challenge the frameworks of hegemony that are expressed through technological infrastructures. Also Nicolas speaks about the dynamics of contemporary art networks and political activism in France, offering a critique on a lack of connection that is in fact needed in the contemporary context of political crisis."
I hope it can interest you, be kind it is unedited :). Thanks Stefan for the invitation.
And sometimes … we play … on crazy sound systems !!!
Tonight I'll play a new work, Radio Strata in Esc Gallery - Graz.
It is a journey in radio recordings I've made, from cosmic sources towards Earth, passing through satellites.
Come for the ending of the "Out of Control" exhibition! More infos here:
