Hello #everyone 👋🏻
I founded a non-profit/non-gov organization in defending digital/bio rights & human autonomy.
Meet computer scientists, intelligence/security analysts, academics, journalists, and creatives in the group! Please support us from Asia!
I still wear a mask even after the covid pandemic. It's not because of sickness or air pollution, but because I daydream romantic scenes in my head, so I look stupid smiling by myself.
Let's go back to riding horses. Oil is too expensive. It's Year of the Horse anyway
My heart breaks over the death of that little girl caused by unethical gene therapy. Neurogeneticists involved in this case should be imprisoned. Parents are also horrible by spending an exorbitant $860,000--and for not accepting their daughter for who she is, as someone with autism. Incredible.
Non-scientists glorify scientists as "too genius to be on social media. They don't argue online."
My sweet summer, have you seen the academic side of social media? Scientists are dunking on each other.
I know that more efforts are needed in science communication, yet the public also often portrays scientists as unreachable lonely nerds.
Always good to be back in my hometown.
are you https?
because without you I'm just ://
1st worlders are now feeling how politics affects basic research funding.
This is exactly what those of us in the Global South have dealt with for years: grants rejected for reasons that have nothing to do with our work.
I remember my first international neuroscience grant was turned down just because I was based in the Philippines under Duterte's regime.
Family is the safety net when your career doesn't go as planned-- it protects your heart and your sense of self. I know someone who gave everything to his career--now every small misstep leaves him insecure, because he tied his entire worth to his job. That's why we all need something outside of work: people we love, things we enjoy, and a community to come back to.
It's Women's History Month and the first victims of the current war were young schoolgirls. Whether it was a failed missile attack from Iran or targeted attack from Israel, fuck them all. Those were children. The first victims were children!! 😡
My Dad is getting a tattoo of my face on his back. Oh my lord
My country Philippines became the first country to declare National Energy Crisis. 😭
Richard Dawkins has fallen victim to the Eliza Effect.
Some conspiracies are true but not everything you don't understand is a conspiracy. Science has advanced so much that it's very difficult to explain to the lay audience.
I noticed that in Southeast Asian countries, it is easy to start organizations. Everybody wants to join the community. The challenge is how to sustain them, as they often lack capital. In other countries, it is easier to earn money but more difficult to form communities.
Southeast Asians should recognize the strength of their culture, which lies in community. Start from there, and then find creative ways to monetize to keep it going.
Anyone here who would like to date me? I mean this sincerely. I've never received genuine love from a man. Time is precious, and I want to find the love I've always deserved.
These techbros don't belong in STEM. Scientists are driven by deep curiosity. Techbros who are driven by profit belong in Business group. Techbros don't represent STEM.
Big Tech is illegally stealing massive amounts of people's data. Aaron Swartz downloaded academic journals to share them freely, but the pressure they put on him led him to take his own life. 😠
Neuroscience is hard to pursue. It's not just "advanced psychology". If you want to become a neuroscientist, you can start with almost any degree such as computer science, data science, physics, genetics, math, etc. You don't have to start with psychology or neuroscience directly.
However, the reason I say it isn't advanced psychology is that you need knowledge in all those fields (and more). Neuroscience is multidisciplinary.

Israel with US participation attacked Iran.
