This tree trunk has quite the collection of polyspores. Turkey Tail? I'm not a fungus expert. The tree trunk shown in the photo is about a 7' section of a live alder.
It's still winter up in the mountains on northern Vancouver Island. A 4 days of heavy snowfall lead to a spectacular blue sky sunny weekend for backcountry skiing. In the center of the photo, 4 people can be seen traversing onto a cliff, high up on a snow-covered mountainside. The photo was taken from Mount Cain, looking east toward Kunnum Peak.
A wildfire just started this afternoon, up in the mountains, 7km west of my home. Human caused. Currently listed as out of control at .5 hectares.
At best, corporate bullshit can sometimes seem harmless. At worst, it can disrupt organizational and employee effectiveness in numerous ways including obstructing clear communication, increasing employee disengagement, tarnishing a company's reputation, and exposing businesses to potential financial and legal risks.

It was windy yesterday in my neighbourhood.
Early this morning, Alberni Valley Rescue Squad was tasked to 5040 for an overdue hiker.
The individual had been hiking alone and reportedly experienced a wildlife encounter, which startled them and resulted in them losing their phone and becoming disoriented. They spent the night on the mountain and were successfully located this afternoon.

In November 2024, IAC conducted an internal audit of its collection that tracked its operations from April 2019 to August 2024, which revealed that it could not locate 132 objects in its collection. CIRNAC has found 17 missing artworks, with an additional four flagged as possible duplicate entries in IAC’s database. The department is reportedly still looking for the missing works in regional federal government buildings.
