mastodon 4.7.3Manchester SciFi Book Club originally met at Madlab on Egde Street in the Northern Quarter of Manchester UK . Our inaugural meeting was on 9th January 2010. So our group has been discussing Science Fiction novels for >10 years! You can see our whole book list on our previously read books page. Our first book was “The Forever War” by Joe Haldeman. We now have a monthly online meeting and chit-chat in between.
This month we are reading the book that (arguably) started it all.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

This is a lovely resource - a list of books we have read and discussed as a group, our score and (most importantly) what we scored it out of:
https://mcrsf.xk7.net/?section=read
For example "The Martian" scored 3.71 Potatoes .
Whereas The Chrysalids scored 4.5 toes.
(almost always scored out of 5)
Our scores are capricious, but in general anything over 3.5 is worth reading and over 4 is a good book.
(tip of the hat to @pwaring@fosstodon.org for putting up the site)
Next book:
The Algebraist by Iain M Banks
