NCD's datacenter is currently experiencing a 600 Gb/s DDoS attack for ransom, so we will be offline until that's resolved or we move forward with a new datacenter which I expect contact from tomorrow. We'll have to rent hardware until we get our current server shipped over to the new datacenter. Here's a snippet of the email they were gracious enough to send me 12 hours after the outages started: --- We are writing to provide a transparent and urgent update regarding a severe network outage currently impacting all of our networks and IP prefixes. We are experiencing a massive, sustained global Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack. The scale of this attack is unprecedented for our network, reaching peak traffic speeds of over 600 Gbps. To provide context, this immense volume of malicious traffic is completely saturating our uplink carriers and causing severe resource exhaustion, which is repeatedly knocking our core routing infrastructure offline. The perpetrators behind this disruption have issued a ransom demand to stop the traffic. We want to be completely transparent with you: we have chosen not to comply. It is our firm stance that paying a ransom would not only be unethical, but it would also directly encourage these criminals to launch further, more aggressive attacks against us and others in the future. At this immediate moment, we do not have an automated tool or localized pathway to filter out or block an attack of this magnitude. However, please rest assured that our engineering team is doing absolutely everything within our power to fight this disruption and stabilize our systems. We are actively collaborating with our upstream network providers and uplink carriers to implement carrier-level traffic shedding and find alternative routing solutions, though we have been unable to fully mitigate the incoming traffic at this time. --- So, no ETA on when NCD will be back, but rest assured I'm working on it.
