Having been around for a little while, it's time for an #Introduction.

I am a quantitative social psychologist in #Birkbeck's Department of Organisational Psychology in #London. My research is mostly about intergroup contact and the (possible) benefits of diversity. I am passionate about open science and #rstats and am involved in building some research tools in that space. Looking forward to connecting here!

@dsquintana@mastodon.social highly commendable. Which journal deserves such praise? :)

Meta-analysis on diversity and performance: call for unpublished/recent data (please RT): we are wrapping up a registered report meta-analysis for JBP where we correlate diversity (demographic, cognitive, job-related) and team performance. If you have any unpublished/recent/hard-to-find data that may be relevant (or any questions), please email l.wallrich@bbk.ac.uk #diversity #meta-analysis

Do you care about making organisations more diverse? Then my new article on "Making diversity work: Transforming assessment and selection to hire for culture add, not culture fit" might contain some interesting ideas. It already came out in December, but I missed the publication of the first issue of the Organisational Psychology Outlook. It can be downloaded here, my article starts on p. 40 - would love to hear your thoughts: https://cms.bps.org.uk/sites/default/files/2023-02/OPO%20December.pdf

@devezer@mastodon.social @giladfeldman@fediscience.org Actually, I think this practice has something going for it - I always find it a bit problematic to explicitly waste participants time (and thus researchers resources) with other filler tasks. So it might be good to think about when such an interleaving of experiments might actually work (would seem to require careful pre-testing and then testing of interaction effects between conditions ...) - but clearly transparency is essential.

@Perowinger94@mastodon.social @wissing@mastodon.social klingt toll - aber ist die Studie (nicht nur das Ergebnis) auch besser? Der Unterschied ist ja schon extrem ...

@psforscher@nerdculture.de impressive maps, might be very helpful for a current project - what is the data source?

New article & plug for an exciting journal: I just published a #replication of an important agent-based model, defending it against recent criticism and showing that "Groups of diverse problem-solvers outperform groups of highest-ability problem-solvers - most of the time": http://dx.doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7484072

This is published in ReScience C, a platinum OA journal for replications of computational research ... a great initiative!

@dimplejug@mastodon.online This looks very interesting - hope other journals will adopt similar rigor and transparency.

@mzloteanu@mastodon.social Interesting question - SESOI makes sense, but should maybe differ from the SESOI of a primary study in that field? Say we were in a world where growth mindset was seen to have huge effects - would it not be worth testing whether it might have more modest effects (i.e. go for precision) without having the resources to discover small effects (that might be above the SESOI for free educational interventions, yet far below the current claims)?
