Good morning, friends!
My new dog tags finally arrived!
They're also a perfboard, so you can customize these however you want. You want blinkenlights? Just add blinkenlights!
There's also a solderpad and an HF RFID antenna onboard, so you can easily turn them into RFID tags as well.
Of course, there's text on them saying "this machine kills fascists" because fuck nazis
You can get these for 2,70€ on Tindie, if you want one too!
yk what? fuck it. for the same price i could get the 8088 motherboard to market, I could finish a hackable smartwatch and bring that to market. I think the latter has more use for people :3c
Maybe I could fix up the "misfits" esp32 ohw smartwatch.
I came a long way since the beginning of this year and I'm confident now, that I could get this to work now.
A lot of the features TSN came up for it will probably be cut, since this project would never be finished ever otherwise. Sorry Nelson, your idea of a custom lisp-like scripting language for it was awesome, but holy fuck is that a big feature. It should be finished in it's core state first, and stuff like that can be added afterwards. And if more people actually like and use that thing, there's more people who could potentially help bring such features to life, if there's an interest for it.
Anyhow, it's time for contemporary, daily-driverable open hardware from RLE!
According to JLC my PCBs are supposed to arrive today
If JLC is right and I manage to get home on time, I might post some pics!
Just so you know: im Gegensatz zum augenscheinlichen Großteil der restlichen Tech-Industrie hat Red Lucy Engineering ein Rückgrad und arbeitet aus Prinzip schon nicht mit Faschisten zusammen :)
PCBs! Ordered at the fab
Will take 3-4 days to make and 1-2 weeks to ship
While my current big retrocomputing project, the scarlet-8088, still needs some time and elbow grease, I decided to work on something smaller while I was out and about all day.
I don't wanna spoil too much just yet, but it's gonna be some cyberpunky jewelry :neocat:
It's still hard to believe that you can just,,,sit down and design an entire fucking computer. Like, you can just do that! That's so fucking amazing!
First attempt at laying out all the components is done. Will probably readjust since it turns out I have a bit more space than I initially thought, but I think the general areas of where things are supposed to be seems quite alr
hm, I should make PCB dog tags (meaning dog tags made from PCB) with the silkscreen having this pfp and a text in the standard silkscreen font I use similar to "this machine kills fascists"
