I love pancake lenses. It's the closest I can get on an APS-C DSLR to the angle a 35mm camera would give me. It's a normal angle, but after enduring the narrowness of the crop factor, it feels like a wide angle.

In reality, gaming chairs are another example of how things that look stupid or immature but are practical will become adapted for mainstream users. Just look at gaming mice: They were better than office crap and professionals were using them. so the design became less flashy while keeping the sensors to appeal to mainstream users.
