@Tutanota@mastodon.social: everywhere is bad for #privacy because they only have to hit a few times, we have to try to escape 100% of the time. But email is very bad and people still click links on their inbox. That is what amazes me the most. Why?

@finlaydag33k I keep it simple, buy a recent phone, remove all malware and spyware from the maker and google, install f-droid and NoRoot Firewall so I control what accesses the Internet. I only allow a few apps to get internet and all other blocked. I have all apps I need and much more. This way you can also have apps from Aurora Store that gets them from Google Play. Not perfect but works.
@thenewoil@freeradical.zone meanwhile, he has a cdn.usefathom.com tracking script on the page that says no to tracking pixels. Yeah, ok. #privacy gone
@wchr@mastodon.social: don't allow Microsoft or Facebook or any other to harvest data and then transfer it. It is useless to forbide them to use the data once they have it. Who's going to stop them from using it? Nobody. It's this simple.
#privacy get's respect in France, hope all other European countries do the same https://www.theregister.com/2022/11/22/france_no_windows_google/ and ban Microsoft and Google products. If it is not possible for a complete ban, force these companies to deliver their source code and we compile it here and create an European version.
@wchr@mastodon.social: that tco is horrible and I always download the link before opening the destination. But nobody does that and everyone just click it and hope it won't go to some bad site.
@wchr@mastodon.social: Wow, Edge looks really great, granting by default access to the device for many extensions. It's just a matter of time until this gets exploited. In Chrome you do need to install a extension. Both are bad. Just use Firefox or LibreWolf and forget all Chromium based browsers.
@hfkldjbuq@beehaw.org: we are the people who choose. Let's teach our friends to choose well. If you buy a desktop/laptop with Windows, replace it with Linux. Prefer a Linux company. Remove all malware from any Android device, specially Samsung and Redmi/Huawei/etc. Install #adblockers everywhere. And many more actions. We choose. Let them die.
@sizeoftheuniverse@lemmy.ml: we love to see Google and Facebook and all marketing companies, to feel the pain. It's a small pain yet, because for now, they are just reacting to a small profit loss, but it is a good signal that we are on the right path. We need to teach people to block #ads and stop using a "smartphone" to browse. It's for making calls and taking pictures, not for using on Instagram or Facebook. Stop being used and dumb!
@chespace@mstdn.social: I know who are we talking about, but still, it's really really hard to believe something like that.
@pmarg there are many amazing Thinkpad I would buy but because of ME I'm just waiting for a good ARM ChromeBook. Some are already nice like Acer Spin 513. But there are good Linux laptop's also from System76 with ME disabled.
@pmarg "defective by design.org" LOL was it easy to put corebook on the T440p? I have one too, I might do it.
@daihard do you have any ChromeBook with any Linux distro?
