@Linux@linuxrocks.online all those are great, except Fedora and their AI slop allowance. The Fedora Steering Committee (FESCo) approved a policy allowing the inclusion of code generated by artificial intelligence (AI) in Fedora packages. That was an instant migration to CachyOS for me.

@Kurt@chaos.social @noodlejetski@masto.ai @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family I understand the fact that each of those terms are extremely broad, which makes it harder for many people to agree in what would be the best approach to reach them. To name the 2 projects in question, both Calyx and Graphene have good perspectives for privacy and for security, albeit somewhat different in execution. That's my concern, that instead of saying "oh, this that they do might improve (insert process)", they go at each other's throats. Mindblowing, really.

@Kurt@chaos.social @noodlejetski@masto.ai @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family I guess I'm not knowledgeable enough to go deeper into this subject. I still think that the problem stems from the human factor, not the technologies.

@noodlejetski@masto.ai @Kurt@chaos.social @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family the more I interact with people, the more I love my dogs. Aren't all of them after the same goal of allowing people to have more private and secure mobile devices?

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family yup, we know, as I mentioned in my previous reply. And I'm very grateful for your work. Having said that, I do have an honest question. Why do your replies sound like you need to make these distinctions so clear? If you read my comment again, you'll see that I was referring to what you guys are able to achieve, and that other devs could look at similar solutions to implement in their end. I can't code to save my life, so I'm speaking ignoring a lot of stuff, I'm sure.

@noodlejetski@masto.ai @Kurt@chaos.social @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family I'm laughing right now. I have to say that Graphene is the only one in their tier, as far as I know, but why so touchy about this? I was not comparing them, just using their project as reference of what can be achieved. Oh well, I guess each of us react differently to different things. Its all good, no damage (to me at least 🤣🤣).

@cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social uses a reimplementation of the Play geolocation for location requests. Honest question, how hard would it be to implement something similar on other Roms, like Calyx or /e/os?

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @cassidy@mastodon.blaede.family oh, I'm entirely aware that Graphene is itsbown OS as opposed to a modified ROM. I only brought it up since it is still Android and this shows that there are plenty of roads to travel to get somewhere. I've tried Roms before, and the devs of those do a great job at #degoogling android, but, at least that I know of, there's no other hardened android OS out there, which is a shame. It would be great if more Dev groups chose to go that route instead of simply #degoogling.

@snaggen@mastodonsweden.se I did try it, and really liked it, but immediately started to miss opening my workspaces via hotcorner, so I'm back in Gnome.
