Love me some round numbers
Noontime show with fantastic local indie folkers Einstein's Dreams among the lilacs to start.
Bone-rattling rock show with New Zealand's Earth Tongue and Denver's Pink Fuzz to close, approaching midnight.
Solid Sunday of #livemusic !
Eggy at Rochester Lilac Festival.
No doubt these guys can lock into a damn good democratic jam, and did a couple times tonight. Not bad for a free show.
Fun set from Scottish heavy funk trio High Fade too.
Mikaela Davis and Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad at the Rochester Lilac Festival.
Great night of local-bred talent. Good enough even that it was worth braving windy and uncomfortably cold weather (WTF Spring?!) Davis played the entire new album backed by her old bandmates plus John Lee Shannon on guitar and a solid sit-in from Alan Murphy on keys.
Always reliably fun Panda set to open the night with Kurt Johnson sitting in on a set-closing New Speedway Boogie.
Natural Information Society at 9th Ward/Hallwalls.
Ain't seen nothing quite like that before. Over 80m almost entirely tranced out on a single theme, with a "short" ten-ish minute intro and another "short" ten-ish minute diversion in the middle. Incredible. And an impressively packed crowd considering it was during the Sabres game.
Social Assassins at Bug Jar.
A Gabriel Marin band that sounds like another Gabriel Marin band, not a bad thing. Pretty sweet actually. Second show, after last night, with Allen Aucoin behind the kit. Wasn't happy to miss the Knicks, but #livemusic called.
Dorothea Paas and Gary Lamaar at Little Cafe last night.
Seems maybe Dorothea is living in town now? Bonus if so, another lovely set of her jazz-infused folk tunes, backed by piano this time. Immediately after I thought there was a strong Joni Mitchell influence she covered one of her songs.
8.8 from Pitchfork, perfect 10.0 from me
