I would really appreciate more information than “South Austin, shelter in place due to an active shooter who popped off some shots yesterday. Why blast that out now? #atx

Rode in my first autonomous vehicle today (to pick up the disabled minivan from the shop). I’d say a good, focused human driver is better today, but it was better than the average human on a normal day.

Sample size of one, so not an actual conclusion! #waymo #av

I would have never heard the “expectant widow” joke if the President didn’t amplify it. #uspol

I’ve been using Evernote for about 16 years as a paying customer. In a month, they’re increasing my price from $83.13 last year to $250.

I think it’s time for me to jump ship. I mainly use it to store scans of paper things I want to keep (I did like their OCR functionality). What are y’all using these days? #productivity #evernote

Yesterday was my mom’s first birthday since her death. Nothing profound to note; a day of feelings even though I couldn’t tell you what those feelings were. #death #grief

I asked Claude what it thought of Pope Leo’s new encyclical about AI and now I have to break it to it that, no matter how much it likes the text, it can’t enter the seminary.

The cold-calling “business funding advisor” who tried to argue with me that our local non-profit youth baseball program should use his services… My brother, trust me, you are barking up the wrong tree. #coldcalls

Originally, the class I taught tonight was cancelled, but my conflict was rescheduled. Since the class is for parents whose kids have class tonight, offered the time as an optional hang time. Taking bets on if anyone shows.

USA Dodgeball All-Star match is on ESPN News right now, followed by some kickball championship. The Ocho is back! #sports #dodgeawrench

The grift never stops. The White House Correspondence Dinner had ~2600 guests. President Trump’s White House Ballroom will have a capacity of 1000 guests.

This isn’t a governmental event, and it wouldn’t be held at the WH either way. Ignoring that, the ballroom isn’t even a viable venue for the event!

Starbucks changed its reward system. Using a SBUX card (stored value card), you previously earned 2x stars vs a credit/debit card 1x. Now, all transactions earn 1x, but you get a 10-star bonus if you add $30 or more to an SBUX card. Doesn’t seem worth it to recharge the card. #starbucks

It’s now tied at 11 in the bottom of the 11th! #ncaasoftball #ucla #cbu

Really great that they donate so much to medicine in Austin, but the naming scheme could use some work. Austin will have:

• Dell Children’s Medical Center (with another “Dell Children’s North Austin Medical Center”)
• Dell Seton Medical Center
• UT Dell Medical Center
• Seton Medical Center

Which hospital is the one next to the UT campus and the Dell Medical School? Dell Seton. Where’s UT Dell? Over by the Domain. Oh, near the Dell Children’s North Austin? No.

Michael and Susan Dell reach $1 billion in gifts to UT with funding of new medical center and research campus.

The CA Baptist/UCLA softball game is bonkers. CBU entered the 5th down 1-7. It’s now 11-7, still in the 5th with only one out. #ncaasoftball

First Mother’s Day without Mom went okay. I never really did anything for Mother’s Day for her before so I felt weird about feeling off during the day. #grief
