A single signature by Trump can remove you from the internet di @smaurizi@mastodon.social "A new David-versus-Goliath battle is being waged on the internet, after the U.S. government’s war against Julian Assange and #WikiLeaks. This time, the epicenter is Italy, and David is an Italian volunteer organization – a tiny collective of low-profile individuals who create and distribute encrypted email accounts, blogs, and mailing lists for free. ..." https://www.ilfattoquotidiano.it/2026/08/29/autistici-inventati-trump-terrorists-news/8491452/ #autisti #censorship #fascism

📚 there are docs and guides around (for the HW anything meshtastic-related should do as it's the same boards!)

  • should look deeper in bookmarks/notes, but already:

#Reticulum Community Wiki: https://reticulum.miraheze.org/wiki/Welcome

RNS recipe forum: https://rns.recipes/forum/ (also be accessible via the nomad network, but failed when i tried... ;) )

the full RNS doc for those who need exhaustivity: https://reticulum.network/manual/

  • there is also definitely a need for more doc/guides/etc..

#RTFM💗 (as in "consider reading the friendly manual"...)

2/ 🚀 Getting any other such board, different from the first one, to do a simple lora transport node. in one (OK 2, maybe 3) command-lines, or one click in a web flasher. configure it (_provisioning_), experiment, move nodes around, announces, etc. you can bring those to friends' and/or start a meetup around with them :) 3/ ??? ;) In your case and depending on what you need/want, the next steps should become increasingly obvious... ;) 8/9

❤️‍🔥 My rewarding path of experimentation so far has been: 1/ making a simple lora _rnode_ (terminology can be confusing... it is all new...). one _interface_ added to a _reticulum instance_ (in some cases without even restarting the instance), on a computer laptop mobile, etc. = to add lora connectivity to a system connecting to the reticulum network (your node!).... can connect through bluetooth (nrf52, cheap, like the XIAO+WIO, the RAK4631) and/or wifi (ESP32 like HeltecV4, many Lilygo, RAK, etc.) or just USB (any of the previous ones.. can get dirt cheap if USB-only...) in simple DIY case or 3D printed. -> 15-30-40 Euros 7/9

-> 🏅 it seems like the quality of the solar cell, its durability, etc. is one key variable here... from 3 Euros to 15 for something claiming to be 5W to something that seems to reliably deliver that, covered by sealed hardened glass... (very rough 1st tests here) ...many tests needed... I would appreciate data on this, esp. power usage under great/constant load RX/TX, compared for various boards. 6/9

II/ 🌤️ Put it in a solar enclosure:

  • DIY from scratch (5-6Euros junction box + batteries + solar/charge controller + sealed holes for antennas, etc + slap and seal a solar panel, labour et voila! -> 20ish Euros + the board

  • bought ready-made as a meshtastic node containing the right board ("meshtastic kit"), or quasi-ready, like easty to convert integrated solar chargers for 18650 -> 40ish Euros + the board
