@domi@donotsta.re i've been saying this for a while! Electricity is magic. We have schools of magic, we have practicing witches and magical creatures. but somehow taking a while to grasp magic feels less frustrating than taking a while to understand something that they all say is purely logical and mostly well-defined. until you get to the stage when you're a magic professor doing scary research in your underground lab. anyways I just wish we leaned more into that idea as a culture :3
coming from tumblr, mastodon has essentially a topologically equivalent interface, with likes (favorites), reblogs (boosts), and reblogs-with-content (replies i think). but whenever i log in here, most posts i see have like...no likes and no reblogs, and maybe a few replies. and maybe i'm just tumblpilled, but i just don't get it... don't you like seeing your friends' posts? aren't you going to put them on your followers' screens? 🥺 we're never going to be the new new pdf at this rate
#ok i'm realizing we don't have the broken-ass tag system. but that's ok
hey @domi@donotsta.re have you ever worked with protobuf messages in shell? i've got a message at work that i'd like to just...flatten into bash variables, honestly. my gut says a sed wizard could recursively prepend the innermost keys with the names of its parents, but for all my time spent on regex, i still fear the full power of sed scripting
concept: fisher-price toy kitchen style, but it’s all the typical EE gear. you’ve got your plastic stereomicroscope, oscope with a sticker of a waveform on it and a bunch of knobs, purple and yellow soldering iron, probes with big rounded harmless alligator clip grounds
the only problem is, anyone i know is going to spend too much time trying to fit cheap ebay gear into the scope, polycarbonate lenses in the microscope, and an SMA connector onto the probe
@ar@is-a.cat @domi@donotsta.re not to mention the dark wizards who can peer into the inner mind of the cable from a great distance
control theory got me saying things like "i need a triangle with an area of 10 centimeters" and "this leg of the triangle is 1 m/s long"
