I'm always hyping perfetto, because it's *really really* cool! Lalit does amazing work and has been super helpful sharing his knowledge on both how to do things in perfetto and even how to add features to the code for things I found missing. So it's great to see his post about his presentation from the Tracing Summit.

One neat thing in the talk is the examples show how perfetto can also ingest and visualize perf and trace-cmd output if those tools for capturing data are more familiar then perfetto's own!

So it looks like ecryptfs will be deprecated soon:
https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/Zx-ndBo7wpYSHWPK@casper.infradead.org/

As I mentioned in the thread, I'm one of those few users of it, who are looking for something to move to (comically I switched to ecryptfs from encfs since it too was deprecated a few years back).

It was suggested in the thread I try CryFS or gocryptfs, so I'm curious: Do folks have any experience with these?

I'd love for there to be a widely used, well regarded solution (fuse+age?) that I could be confident wouldn't be deprecated anytime soon.

A predecessor of mine in the timekeeping subsystem did retire to be a turkey farmer, so maybe this is just the natural course of things.

@ethorsoe yeah, I've never really picked up the ctrl-shift-c/v in the terminal habit, as I'm one of those caps-as-crtl folks, and it's a little awkward. But that is a bit self inflicted. I just wanted to highlight an approach which I've come to appreciate. Though as I do more document/slide work these days I am having to move away from the home keys to do the ctrl-shift-v paste-without-formatting (which should always have been the default, if we want to start another flame war - which I don't :) more then I'd like. So maybe I could adjust.
