About to finish the Second season of #FROM and it gives me the exact same vibes as watching #LOST did back in the day. Ensemble cast, mysterious location, cast that are somehow connected, limited resources, homicidal environment, 'Last time on FROM' recaps at the episode start, physics that seems at odds with itself and only seems to work 'because it does'. So far, I'm loving it, hopefully it holds up until the end. 🤞 I do hate the 'que sera, sera' theme song though. I wish it were just a simple beat like LOST. Too much time killing before the show gets going.

Far be it from the Trump Administration's first 'paradox' but it seems rather silly that they were pushing a 10 year moratorium on any law restricting AI, yet they also were the ones to flip out and get models pulled 'for national security' reasons (which appear to have been knee-jerky; https://www.theregister.com/security/2026/06/15/feds-freaked-over-fable-5-after-simple-fix-this-code-prompt-not-jailbreak-says-researcher/5255827)

Okay so an interesting quirk of my #3dprinter (if you can call it that) is that the fans are adjustable up and down. Since I have no way to CFD the design quickly, I've never really known where they should point or be installed to. I have just guessed and tried locations.

Are they too high (ineffectual and cools the heat block/nozzle)? Too low (cools the part, at risk of snagging or dragging on the print)? Tough to say!

And an idea just hit me. I have a thermal camera! It's not perfect but I can crank everything up to temp and dial in the range of the thermal camera to see the effects of cooling on the block/nozzle. And it should be way way faster than modeling and doing #cfd on this design.

I don't know if the active heater will be a problem but I think it SHOULD work! Right?

Sold my old #X100V this evening (for a good price). I still have an #X100VI (which is far superior) and in arming the V I realized I still have an F as well, but is always a bit sad to let one go. Thankfully, it's to a good friend who knows the camera and will put it to good use. I've had every version of the x100 platform and loved them all, even the original x100 with all its flaws. I'd kill for a #GFX100RF but even at a used price of 3k just isn't in the cards.

I joke, but a friend of mine and I had a conversation via text the other night about my feelings on AI, I think I'd like to codify it into something ... more polished. Just collecting my ramblings on the topic. Maybe if for no other reason than being able to hand someone a link when they go "What do you mean you're in Tech and don't like AI?!"

@troldann@techhub.social Personal. I've got enough server infrastructure that I just built it at home. Pondering setting up ollama so that bots actually sound person-like. But I'll probably never ACTUALLY play. Just a fun weekend whatnot.
