@rmathematicus@historians.social Welcome. Happy to be your first follower. It’s quite peaceful here.
So we’re doing #introductions now. Former academic scientist: Manchester, Oxford, Stanford, lecturer/ researcher at Reading, UK (chemical physics). Quit to join Shell (no, I never met Liz Truss). Worked for Shell for 11 years before leaving to set up my own management consultancy/training practice. Retired in 2017 and turned full-time to my hobby since leaving academia: writing popular science books, mostly on physics, history, and philosophy. More at www.jimbaggott.com
Time to do a photo, I think. Here’s Noordhoek beach.
Posting this here to celebrate @aeonmag’s 10th anniversary. https://aeon.co/essays/shut-up-and-calculate-does-a-disservice-to-quantum-mechanics
The Italian translation of ‘Quantum Space: Loop Quantum Gravity and the Search for the Structure of Space, Time, and the Universe’ has just been published by Adelphi Editzioni. For more details (in English) see here: http://www.jimbaggott.com/books/quantum-space/
I finally figured it out. Anyone know if Robin Ince is here yet? Phil Ball?
