@lara_amalia@mastodon.social I think part of it is meeting clients where they are and speaking their language. Accessibility reframed as lost customers, or maintainability reframed as higher costs for every future change etc...those types of conversations help get the point across so they can make informed decisions. Now I just try to help clients achieve their goals, on their terms. Easier said than done, of course. But the fact that you're thinking about the client relationship aspect puts you ahead of most

@lara_amalia@mastodon.social Hi I just started following your writing via RSS and love your style. Your most recent post resonates with me. First, you are not alone. Second, accessibility, responsiveness, maintainable code etc. isn't about perfectionism. To me, those are professional standards. And the fact that clients don't always see the value doesn't make the value less real. Thanks for sharing your story. Keep going, and keep writing about it. The web needs more people who think like this.

@bzdev@fosstodon.org @Tutanota@mastodon.social GPG is a perfect example of a tool that’s technically excellent and socially impossible. The encryption works. The problem is you need the other person to also care, and most people don’t.

@bzdev@fosstodon.org @Tutanota@mastodon.social Valid point...That's an interesting distinction. GPG in infrastructure scales fine because it's a single player decision. GPG in communication fails because it's multiplayer. Same tool but different adoption dynamics depending on whether you need the other person to participate.
