Open post Jeffrey C. Erlich @jerlich@qoto.org · 18mo ago Replying to @UlrikeHahn@fediscience.org @jerlich @faelif what are k and m? the number of outcomes and the sequence length? because if yes that is answering a less general question than the one asked @UlrikeHahn @faelif E.g. if you are flipping a fair coin then p(h)=p(t) = 0.5 (k==2). The probability of observing some specific sequence htththhthtis just 0.5^m where here m = 10.

Erlich @jerlich@qoto.org · 37mo ago Replying to @mcaleerp@mastodon.social
I love preprints & initiatives like PsyArxiv etc but could we all agree to give the papers we upload clear file names? Am assuming most download the preprint and end up having lots of files called things like FacePaperV4.pdf, paper_final.pdf, done.pdf, which whilst funny are a nightmare to filter. What if we all agreed “LeadAuthor_title_version.pdf”? Just think how better that would make our download folders! And now, back to renaming files!

#preprints #preprint #openscience #academicchatter
@mcaleerp@mastodon.social If you use bibliography software like zotero you don't need to worry about file name conventions. zotero + betterbibtex is awesome @zotero@fosstodon.org #bibtex #citation #bibliography
