We have access to great resources like LibGenesis and Sci-Hub which have opened up research in new ways that even very large physical libraries can’t reproduce

I'll add to that: yes we have access to archive.org and scigen/libgen/scihub, but they can be taken away at the drop of a judges gavel with virtually no warning.

Unless people make seeding their torrents a habit, those libraries, too, will disappear within a generation. (And better yet building physical libraries of physical copies of their contents, though that's harder).

@brewsterkahle@mastodon.archive.org can do a lot of heavy lifting but won't live forever.
