The IRTF focusses on supporting research related to the Internet, while the parallel organization, the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), focuses on the shorter term issues of engineering and standards making.
Congratulations to Haarika Manda from the University of California Santa Barbara for winning the IRTF's Applied Networking Research Prize for her work on studying Internet Access Inequities in the US.

The Applied Networking Research Prize recognises the best recent results in applied networking research, interesting new research ideas of potential relevance to the Internet standards community, and people who are likely to have an impact on Internet standards and technologies in the future.
The ANRP is supported by the Internet Society and the IRTF, and sponsored by Comcast and NBC Universal.
