Nature exploitation has long-lasting consequences. F. Eichenberger et al found that historical exploitation, combined with current ecological and demographic factors, appear to shape patterns of male reproductive success and population dynamics of humpback whales in the South Pacific & potentially worldwide.
Populations of hedgehogs are rapidly shrinking across Europe. Can ultrasonic signals warn hedgehogs away from approaching vehicles or keep them clear of dangerous machines? One researcher is exploring ultrasound as an option to help save these tiny critters.

While biodiversity and nature underpin the global economy, the latest @ipbes@mas.to #BizBiodiversity Assessment reveals that less than 1 per cent of publicly reporting companies currently mention their impacts on biodiversity.

The Global Assessment of Migratory Freshwater Fishes released by CMS gathers the latest science on migratory freshwater fish, pinpointing the biggest barriers and threats they face and flagging which species are strong candidates for international, cross-border protection and coordinated action.
