41: George Orwell, "1984" Another classic. Winston Smith is just a small cog in the totalitarian machine of Oceania. Terrifyingly dystopian.

mastodon 4.7.3-stable+ff1Germany, he/him. Gegen Nazis, sonst meist tolerant.
40: Harper Lee, "To kill a mockingbird"
Another classic. Attorney Atticus Finch defends a black man accused of rape in 1930's US. Gripping tale about blatant racism, prejudice and the power of defending civil rights for everyone, told from the perspective of a 9yo girl
Bin gespannt 😃
39: Matt Dinniman, "A Parade of Horribles" Level 10 brings US races in a shitty fast food truck against vehicles and animals, and Carl coming up with a plan that's incredibly insane even by his standards
17: Richard Osman, "We solve murders" Bodyguard Amy, famous novelist Rosie and Amy's father-in-law and retired police detective Steve race around the globe while trying to catch a killer and staying alive. RO's writing is funny as hell and highly entertaining, as usual
#50booksin2026
37: Matt Dinniman, "The eye of the Bedlam Bride" On the 8th Level, Carl&Donut fight Card battles against NPCs and fellow crawlers, including totems scary as hell (Shi Maria, Uzi Jesus) or outright adorable (Monk seals & crabs), buffs and debuffs and mystic surprises (Force Play). Amazing & entertaining.
36: Martha Wells, "Platform decay" Murderbot on a rescue mission on a planet-size torus space station. Funny & entertaining, albeit a little bit short
35: Nnedi Okorafor, "Death of the author" Two Tales, told separately and yet intertwined. One about a struggling disabled Nigerian-American author and her journey, the other about a robot civilization that has inherited Earth and keeps repeating humanity's mistakes. Excellent.
34: Matt Dinniman, "Butcher's Masquerade" This time, hunters enter the fray, but the crawlers turn the board around. Donut acquires a group of velociraptors and other Dinos, Carl keeps killing things, and the High Elves NPCs behave just as arrogant as you'd expect.
33: Marc-Uwe Kling, "Die Känguru-Rebellion"
Absolute Empfehlung
32: Matt Dinniman, "The Gate of the Feral Gods" In book 4 of the series, Carl, Donut and Katia are stuck inside a quadrant inside their bubble like everyone else and need to coordinate with other crawlers to escape. Oh, and there are sharks, sharktopus bosses, fire gods and skyscraper-sized puppies, as well. Highly entertaining (if you like it when things are blown up / shred to pieces, that is 😃)
31: Matt Dinniman, "The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook" Vol. 4 of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, taking place in a gigantic set of train stations. A little bit long-winded, looking forward to Vol. 5
38: Matt Dinniman, "This inevitable ruin" On Level 9, it's Faction Wars time. Carl&Donut plus their NPC allies against the rest. And once again, gods are roaming the earth, as well.
45: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, "Test of the Twins" Raistlin and Crysania challenge the Dark Queen, Caramon, Tas and Tanis try to stop Raistlin, and Kitiara, Lord Soth and Raistlin's apprentice Dalamar have their own schemes. Worthy finale of the Legends of the Dragonlance
44: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, "War of the Twins" Caramon, Raistlin & Crysania go to war against Pax Tharkas. And Raistlin's challenge of the Sark Queen draws nearer
43: Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, "Time of the Twins" Years after the Queen of Darkness was banished, Raistlin is the most powerful magic-user alive. To become even more powerful, he needs to travel back in time to Istar and the Kingpriest, accompanied by Caramon, Tolpan the Kender and the cleric Crysania
Trotzdem lesenswert.
