Iceland 🇮🇸 day 2 has been amazing. Climbed a Volcano, saw snow, spectacular views and the Northern Lights 🤩

HalfStack is one of my favorite web conferences. ✨ November the 13th they are back again in London and the lineup looks great. I will definitely be there. 🎉

Do you also want to start hacking with receipt printers after seeing that?
I've written a quick Receipt Printers 101 that explains how they work and what packages are available to talk to them.

Some people collect stamps. Or Pokémon cards.
Did I just go to the ISO standards store and seriously considered buying one of the standards documents…
Yes I did.
Down the rabbit hole we go.

It has been a good week for photos. All in the space of a few day: beautiful palm trees in Bonaire, northern lights back home and now Atlas.
Interested in the code behind the barcode scanner?
It's all open source and available on https://point-of-sale.dev, including everything you need to for Point of Sale devices, including receipt printers.
And thanks to the 🐡Project Fugu API's it all works in the browser. 💫
Can’t believe that one week ago I was still in Iceland, a couple of days ago in Berlin and tomorrow I am heading to London for #HalfStack.
Incredibly excited to be back again as a speaker. Lovely to see old friends again and hopefully make new ones.
I've rewritten the receipt-printer playground completely in Svelte 5 and I am starting to get it. Some things still feel like magic to me, and its footprint is slightly larger compared to Vanilla JS... But definitely a better jumping point for future development.
Want to know what this is about? Come to #HalfStack this Wednesday in London 🇬🇧 and see my talk about resilience where we'll travel back to 1994 and rediscover one of the most important principles of the web. Tickets are still available.
It took a while but all the video's from Fronteers Conference 2022 are now online. 6 great talks from 6 amazing speakers.
Enjoy!

Scan any barcode using the webcam, or connect a physical barcode scanner and use WebSerial, WebHID or simply keyboard emulation mode.

@rowdy Sure. There are plenty of cheap receipt printers for sale on AliExpress and such. For example, look for the Xprinters XP-T80Q or XP-N160III. They are actually quite decent and have different models with USB, LAN, Bluetooth, etc.
