In the USA the best way is to write your representative and let them know if things don't change next time they are up for election they won't have your vote. I recommend snail mail and keep it professional. I'm skeptical about Emails and online polls and i've worked in tech for 30 years.
Writing your senator is not likely to have an impact in my opinion. Representatives are your neighbors and do actually care.

Curiously moving from Comcast Business phone system to a Debian based asterisk self-hosted phone system, unsolicited sales calls dropped 95%. Some days used to get like 20 junk calls. Not sure if there's a connection. but the monthly costs went from hundreds to tens of dollars.

I'm not sure I believe this :) my experience has been I have to fill out the customs form with the harmonized codes before it is shipped. I have shipped many international packages. Also when shipping a container (like on a semi truck) had to do the paperwork and seal the container
Those were exports though. I haven't imported much. I don't think you import a bunch of random shit and have the broker figure out all the codes. The harmonized codes are international not solely USA. It can be tricky because some things like apparel or fabrics have different codes if it is manmade like spandex or nylon or natural like Cotton. As I recall it's more difficult to import natural fabrics if my memory is working lol
Yeah but it's their fucking job :) it's not that difficult.
The other issue I see in the article is that consumers don't get anything. Even if the importer passed on the tariff cost to the consumer, the importer can collect the money (twice) for example Amazon is mostly a middle man between the buyer and seller and likely should not get refund except they do have maybe hundreds of brands of their own that pose as third party sellers.
Trump administration set to launch tariff refund portal. Here's what to know.

Manders noted that it's not uncommon for customs brokers to make mistakes in paperwork by, for example, applying the wrong tariff codes to a given import.

Just put a cheap vps to proxy requests and connect in home server to vps using wireguard. Then you are proxying to 10.99.0.2, for example

BTW what's up with using the registered trademark Unix in the company name?

Should have a mfg code with a public registry. It's done in apparel (RN#) so why not meds. Might omit high value targets . Or not, that's a separate issue. In the USA we are obscured by amber pill bottles and computer printed labels, and do not see the meds in manufacturer containers. If you are forced to pay $300 for $3 value then insurance seems more valuable, since they cover the $3 on your behalf.

But wait... a second article. This is fun reading if you like historical stuff going back to before the internet.
Postel’s Law is the principle the Internet is based on. Not because Jon Postel was such a great salesperson and talked everyone into it, but because that is the only winning evolutionary strategy when internets are competing. Nature doesn’t care what you think about Postel’s Law, because the only Internet that happens will be the one that follows Postel’s Law. Every other internet will, without exception, eventually be joined to The Internet by some goofball who does it wrong, but just well enough that it adds value, so that eventually nobody will be willing to break the connection. And then to maintain that connection will require further application of Postel’s Law.
IPv4 vs IPv6: A Shift in Attitude and the Future of Networking
Explore the evolving perspectives on IPv4 and IPv6. Discover how a shift in design philosophy and the challenges of dual-internet networks shape the future of internet connectivity, with insights on Postel’s Law and the concept of IP mobility.

Well I guess it just took 2 minutes to hack the Eu id app

Gotta watch those expensive numbskulls who blindly use AI lol :)
Paul Moore - Security Consultant (@Paul_Reviews)
Hacking the #EU #AgeVerification app in under 2 minutes.
During setup, the app asks you to create a PIN. After entry, the app encrypts it and saves it in the shared_prefs directory.
1. It shouldn't be encrypted at all - that's a really poor design.
- It's not cryptographically tied to the vault which contains the identity data.
So, an attacker can simply remove the PinEnc/PinIV values from the shared_prefs file and restart the app.
After choosing a different PIN, the app presents credentials created under the old profile and let's the attacker present them as valid.
Other issues:
1. Rate limiting is an incrementing number in the same config file. Just reset it to 0 and keep trying.
2. "UseBiometricAuth" is a boolean, also in the same file. Set it to false and it just skips that step.
Seriously @vonderleyen - this product will be the catalyst for an enormous breach at some point. It's just a matter of time.

Funny for the morning. When people become machines. Or shiny objects.
Head of People

we're looking for a Head of People who has done this before and built the people function from the ground up...
What you’ll do
Design and implement compensation, leveling, and career ladder frameworks from scratch
Establish lightweight, high-signal performance management systems
Build onboarding, offboarding, and talent development programs that actually scale
Define and reinforce company culture: remote-first, distributed, high-trust
Partner with founders and leadership on org design and hiring strategy
Head of People

HEAD OF PEOPLE
Location: Remote (US) | Full-time
__
ABOUT OPENROUTER
OpenRouter is the AI routing and infrastructure layer that AI builders, AI-native startups, and enterprises use to access, manage, and optimize their AI usage ... all through a unified API, billing interface, and analytics platform. We power some of the most advanced AI builders in the world by giving them the flexibility to move fast, scale confidently, and stay future-proof as models evolve.
As enterprise adoption of AI accelerates, OpenRouter sits at the center of how organizations operationalize LLMs across research, product, and production workloads.
__
ABOUT THE ROLE
OpenRouter is at an inflection point. With ~60 people and scaling to 200+, we're looking for a Head of People who has done this before and built the people function from the ground up at a high-growth technical company and knows what matters at this stage.
This is not a traditional HR role but it’s a builder-operator who owns the full people function: org design, comp & leveling, performance management, culture, and recruiting too. The recruiting team will report into this role.
__
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design and implement compensation, leveling, and career ladder frameworks from scratch
- Establish lightweight, high-signal performance management systems
- Build onboarding, offboarding, and talent development programs that actually scale
- Define and reinforce company culture: remote-first, distributed, high-trust
- Partner with founders and leadership on org design and hiring strategy
- Own core people operations: benefits, payroll, employee relations
- Build and lead the recruiting function: hire and manage IC recruiters, own hiring from ~60 → 200+ without lowering the bar
__
ABOUT YOU
- Have been the first or second People hire at a company that scaled from ~40 to 150+ people
- Strong People Ops generalist: comp & leveling, performance cycles, employee relations, onboarding/offboarding
- Remote-first experience is critical given our distributed culture
- Founder-friendly and low-ego; comfortable being both strategic and rolling up your sleeves
- Enough seniority to operate autonomously; no expectation of building a large team immediately
- Background in a technical company (AI, infrastructure, devtools, or engineering-heavy org)
- High agency, strong commercial mindset, will push back on leadership when needed
__
BONUS POINTS
- Built a comp framework and leveling system from scratch
- Navigated a company through a period of rapid headcount growth
- Can speak to specific programs you've built: onboarding, performance reviews, manager training
- Knows how to build culture in a remote/hybrid environment
- Comfortable operating without a lot of HR infrastructure in place yet
- Prior Head of People or strong #2 stepping into a first seat
- Experience competing for top-tier AI or engineering talent

Finally an update to DKIM. See they slide in Ed25519 sigs pretending it wasn't already a standard that nobody implemented for like a whole decade (mostly, i think proton and a few smaller players support those sigs but none of the big guys budged.)
Doing something odd with JSON i think. Where is that supposed to go lol. Are we going to blow up the headers even more with JSON structures Header canonicalization on SMTP email is so much fun i know. :) i wrote my own signer. For v1 anyway. Took quite a bit of time for me to figure out that there can be no CRLF at the end of the header block you are signing :)
