there's mostly only two relentless hardships in programming: networking issues, naming things, and off by one errors.

speak for yourself. chatgpt helped me program a medium-complexity task yesterday within ~3 hours which would have taken me about 1-2 weeks otherwise, i fear. especially, it’s really convenient because when you just don’t know some technical term, you can just describe what you mean and it will give you the correct keyword, while googling for that kind of information is difficult since you don’t even know where to start.

i’m happy for you :)
me teasing you for no reason
i wanted to write sth dumb first about how getting asked out for a date with a girl is always nice, and remember to use condoms, but i think that neither of us is in the mood for that right now. this is clearly important situation to you and i’ll try to treat it with respect!
----
on a more serious note, i tend to go on dinner with my family sometimes too, about once per week if we both have time (mostly with my dad because he works close to where i live, so it aligns well), and i think that it’s good that i don’t just live my life in total social isolation, but these occasional randomly-meet-with-other-people-for-no-reason is really nice.

that’s an interesting way to sum it up, yeah. do you happen to have any collections of articles that discuss mass killings under capitalist states?

it’s not just zero-based indexing though. i’ve had situations like these a couple of times: write a for … of loop to iterate through the elements of an iterable. a lot of the times, there’s an unwanted first / last element in the list (that doesn’t actually belong there) and i forget to remove it, then end up with garbage data in the result set.

yeah i agree … many people can write good software, but to make it stick around, you need a good name for it

yeah i had this realization recently. went to the supermarket and bought junk food for $8, then came out and saw a person who really needed it. i didn’t even give them $1. really made me think

bad idea IMO. i did this once, the device has to be permanently plugged in, which strains the battery. after a few weeks the battery inflated. that stuff can explode and set your house on fire.
better buy a raspberry pi. last time i checked they were $20 each.

In other words, this man, whose enormous wealth affords him access to the most spectacular settings our planet has to offer, actually believes these three cold, dead places are superior to the Earth we have, verdant and alive.
Uhh, i don’t want to contradict your narrative, but from his perspective, that actually makes sense.
If you look at the evolution of life, complex life developed around 300 million years ago, around at the same time that life learned to thrive on land. Just as a reminder: Living on land is extremely dangerous. There’s not enough water, you’re out-of-water around 90% of the time (except when it rains), there’s a shortage of various minerals, especially these minerals aren’t evenly distributed in an aqueous solution that you have always available, then there’s this aggressive sunlight all the time … the freezing cold in the day and the temperature differences between day and night.
you have none of these challenges if you just stay in the sea. and yet, life somehow managed to evolve to live in these harsh conditions. and in fact, life on land is typically more complex than life in the sea, because it has to be. For example, almost all photosynthetically active organisms in the sea are cyanobacteria (small cells without even clear structure within the cell), while on land it’s mostly eukaryotic plants, which are often much more complex and mechanically larger. So there’s clear developments there!
Now imagine if you continue this process, by going to a land that’s even more difficult to live in …

upon closer investigation, i notice that water is added before each processing step and removed afterwards.
give water to the plants so they can do the growing, then remove moisture from harvest to make it shelf-stable.
mix flour with water to shape to dough, then dry the finished noodles to make them shelf-stable.
mix noodles with water for cooking, then remove the water
mix the noodles with sauce to make it easier digestible.
