Web zine:
Planning on moving our three-month submission call openings to two months moving forward. We closed early in Q4 as we filled all of our spots and now with simsubs and increased pay, our volume has gone up significantly. Should help lower response time and give us more downtime.
Not to toot my own horn here, but… 🤤
A couple more updates to go, especially for mobile, but I’ve pushed some decently significant changes to the home page today, which I think are a lot of fun. https://foofaraw.press
Exploring the idea of a new imprint where it’s closer to a self-publishing model where Foofaraw is more hands off, but would still help you find cover art and an editor (or bring your own) and then we’d typeset, prepare, and publish, etc. with zero oversight or marketing help.
The limited edition hardcover of A Great Big Fuss in all its glory. Still a few available online, shipping all over the world. https://foofaraw.metalabel.com/big-fuss-2025?variantId=1
In honor of our Dino issue (open for submissions now!), we decided to bring a Pterosaur back to life for ya’ll. You’re welcome! https://foofaraw.submittable.com/submit/345863/someone-elses-september
Thinking of doing an analog submission call where folks have to snail mail their submissions in. Would do something fun with the publication of those stories too... this will probably happen.
Looking for a nice, quick read? Might I recommend one of our novelettes with stunning artwork in paperback or limited edition hardcover??? https://foofaraw.metalabel.com/
Well if you want to watch me nervously ramble on and on about Foofaraw, now's your chance! I talked to Becky at Lit Mag News earlier today and it's up now for your viewing (dis)pleasure! https://litmagnews.substack.com/p/i-want-something-fun-a-chat-with
They need a lot of work, so I might have an actual designer make something... but would people/pubs actually want something like this that they could put on their website as a little award badge…?

Emma Burnett, the wonderful writer and member of the Foofaraw Fellowship (aka we published one of her more cozy and oddball stories), has a novella coming out in June that you should go check out and pre-order! https://emmaburnett.carrd.co/

HBO continues to reign supreme, but I think Apple has officially leaped to number two in terms of quality of shows. FX/Disney sits firmly at three followed by Netflix, and then I guess Amazon to round out the top five.

I don't ask for much, but I put in a ton of work on the new design for our Media Guide newsletter and I'd love it if you just poked around, clicked a couple links. I'm really proud of how this turned out. https://foofaraw.press/the-media-guide-s7e8/
