Made a trick door under the stairs to get to the basement. Regular door wouldn’t work. Odd size, nothing square, tight space. Used an old window weight from the house and a lever and pulleys to counter balance the door lift, so it will open with finger pressure. Fun and funky, but it works!
Paid a visit to a local artist in her studio today.

Secret Library & Speakeasy
Old Main Street dates to the 1800s. New buildings stand on old foundations. We saw Sally Mann at the grand Paramount. After, T found stairs leading down to interconnected cellars and a hallway lined with opposing bookshelves. Push on them and they swing open to reveal hidden rooms.
A Turkish lounge with low seats and a Persian rug, dim lamps on paneled walls. The other a speakeasy, with a bartender who quotes Epicurus in the original Greek.
A side effect of ICE visible all over airports where affluent travelers are suddenly inconvenienced, they will make a vivid connection to the real reason for it. Without ICE agents swaggering around doing nothing, many people would have been annoyed with airlines and TSA, etc.. With this memorable visual, even the most obtuse will consciously connect the dots.
These are people not accustomed to inconvenience.
Especially the congress-critters who depend on commercial air travel.
Back in November I helped a friend move his new old from North Carolina to Maryland. I met him in Hampton to relieve his first crew. They had come through the Dismal Swamp with many adventures, but had to jump ship to meet a tight schedule. Mutual friends got in touch, and with the help of my gracious partner T was able to work out logistics on short notice. Was a fun trip on a fine boat. This leg was from Hampton Roads to Deltaville.
