Congratulations to my colleagues Gunes Acar and @Frederik_Borgesius@akademienl.social for winning the 2026 CNIL-INRIA Privacy Award, together with researchers at KU Leuven and IMDEA, for exposing the insidious tracking by Meta and Yandex on Android. De proof-of-concept LLM aanvalsworm die vorige maand bekend is gemaakt in https://arxiv.org/pdf/2606.03811 - zie ook https://fortune.com/2026/06/03/a-new-ai-powered-computer-worm-could-prove-to-be-the-stuff-of-cybersecurity-nightmares/ - vond ik eigenlijk zorgwekkender. Maar daar waren geen grote AI spelers en hun PR machines bij betrokken, dus dat heeft minder aandacht gekregen...

I don't think there is a 10% chance that AI will wipe out all of humanity. A more realistic prediction is that there is an N % chance that AI will wipe out (100-N) % of humanity. Hopefully it's only kN, for some small factor k.

@djoerd@idf.social Actually, N=100 is the only value for which the formula is NOT a realistic prediction, as I'm sure there's a 100% chance of at least death caused by AI. I added that as a condition to improve the formula.
