20 years in #secondlife !

Binge listened to catch up on the excellent @gamesatwork_biz@mastodon.social whilst walking and also sitting in the sun. I was using my meta raybans, had some WhatsApp message announcements from the ludosport(light sabre combat) crew announced by Dame Judy Dench. Very glad although retired I am still very much a tech geek

Today marks the first day of my official retirement!!!
I've completed the main mission of the RPG called work, maxed my levels and dealt with quite a few side missions that came my way.
Thank you everyone who has made this part of the journey of life such a blast!

Exciting to think Artemis II is going to start heading to the moon today ! Good luck to all

Thankyou Zuckerberg for setting back the entire metaverse future. Should have learned the lessons from the past, paid attention to those of us in the previous wave. Could have been so much better with all that money !

Today has involved walking, swimming, hand style Tai Chi broadsword, ludosport/light sabre forms, Cho kwang do patterns all out in the lovely sunny weather (not the swimming that was indoors but in 30C pool :) ) So many things to enjoy and try to improve on bit by bit.

Had a great time at a try out wielding glowing crackling light sabers in sport sparring with LudoSport Hampshire - Light Saber Combat Academy. Great cardio and comradery, as well as the weird layers of being 10 again having seen and lived Star Wars in 1977 and now applying some other martial arts experience and training patience 🙂

Wow is 17 years since I resigned from IBM 🙂 I certainly stuck with metaverse 🙂 https://www.eightbar.com/2009/02/23/a-new-era-begins Now retired but still engaged and helping where I can across tge industry

@gamesatwork_biz@mastodon.social We recorded this interview podcast before I retired but full on industrial metaverse conversation :) https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/data-and-dimensions/id1856572783?i=1000748001266

Learning to draw (again) with 21draw.com :) https://www.feedingedge.co.uk/blog/2026/02/03/learning-to-draw/

Jewel - Pieces of you 30th anniversary edition ! Such a fantastic singer. We saw her in Southampton 30 years ago. Vinyl just released and arrived (now playing)

My copy of the last book has arrived. Wonderful piece of literature and art. Post card top left describes it 🙂

Well prof Richard A. Bartle reworking of Designing Vrtual Worlds (volume 1 second edition) has arrived 🙂 obviously I have not read it all yet it’s clearly got everything in it and loaded with a personal touch in writing style that’s chuckle inducing. I.e Here have some optimism. Also one I have said and credited often since hearing him say it about serious games. If you take fun games and boring teaching combined expecting fun teaching you instead get boring games. 🙂

Tiny maker 3d printer has arrived ! Originally funded in Nov 22 :)

I was practicing drawing, whilst also contemplating Tai Chi moves and then decided to drop the scratchy sketches into Midjourney to see what it thought of them. I got some nice single images but also this interesting video, where each character synchronised (I didn’t ask it to 🙂 )

Worth reading, I concur :) https://arinsider.co/2026/01/29/meta-is-not-the-metaverse-an-open-letter-to-the-tech-press/

Venezuela right near epstein island, Denmark sold island chain that has Epstein island to US in 1917. Trump is implicated in Epstein files and very nasty stuff, not yet released. Trump hits venezuala and Greenland (Denmark) in “completely unrelated” world agitating moves?

For years Jan has mentioned how untidy my clothes shelves were (though I understood the system 🙂 ) I said would not sort it out until I retired. So blam …. Many hours later done! and many bags to recycle or take to charity shops 🙂

Awesome album just arrived. Brian Setzer Orchestra vol 2. A live Tokyo concert with Setzer’s wonderful rockabilly guitar and crooning voice with some classic band tunes and lots of stray cats too. Including my all time favourite song Stray Cat Strut. It works as the original 3 piece or as a full jazz/blues orchestra.

It seems Gregg Davies is wearing Ray Ban Metas on #nevermindthebuzzcocks 🙂

Went to see Troilus and Cressida at the open air globe theatre london today. Getting quite into Shakespeare now :)

Sunday morning vinyl record listening. The genius of blues master Robert Johnson

Fun experiment ! https://www.feedingedge.co.uk/blog/2025/08/23/generating-virtual-worlds-with-ai/

Watched #KpopDemomHunters last night on Netflix. It is a really entertaining and good film. The music is fantastic too. It is not taking itself too seriously, but equally doesn’t mock current culture either.

I posted about my 35th year of work :)

Brilliant double album by Raye. This music may contain hope. A modern poetic concept album but with Raye’s complex jazz and swing big band style.

Having resurrected my 20 year old bike I went for a short ride today. Reflecting on evolution . I used to use a bike computer for distance, heart rate monitor band with dedicated “watch” and carry inner tubes and tyre levers. Now I have one watch giving me gps data, health tracking and keeping it in the cloud, self sealing inner tubes and as a bonus my ray ban metas for bone conduction streaming music and other voice interaction keeping ears open for any danger. All great additions I think 🙂

Saw Book of Mormon in london today with Jan. It was hilariously good. Very very life of Brian meets south park 🙂 (unsurprisingly given the creators). :)
