### MEETING OVER ###
Shots from a recent visit to Mass MoCA and the Clark Institute with inspiring examples of Sol LeWitt’s wall drawings and Raffaella della Olga’s typescript art.
Current mood: massive parallel activity below the threshold of awareness
I was able to attend a fireside conversation featuring Kai Bird, co-author of American Prometheus, who was joined by Charles Oppenheimer and Dorothy Oppenheimer Vanderford, grandchildren of J. Robert Oppenheimer. Along with that insightful discussion, a few incredible artifacts were on display from the AIP Neils Bohr Library and Archives.
Three days ago, after reviewing awful Academic Analytics data that the Provost's office uses to "manage" the faculty, I had the idea to build an Administrative Analytics dashboard to track the performance (and compensation) of our university "management". While we often discuss concerns about LLM use, this experience -- zero to prototype in just a few days -- highlighted for me the democratization of data processing, analysis, and coding tools that has come online recently. In the past, I've built plots manually from IRS 990 filings, but here I am able to draw quickly from IPEDS, IRS, and website data in far less time.
