Depending on implementation it may open the door to malicious manipulation of users being tricked into installing bad actors which is a valid concern, but it doesn't open the door to "any random LLM to access your iPhone", which makes no sense (just like allowing App Stores hasn't caused the surges in malware Apple "warned" would happen)

@aaronsgiles Funnily, I knew it was in the PC version from reading about it so when I finally got it for my mac I kept trying until it worked. I always thought it was just the way the easter egg was supposed to work and it was just not pointed out in those reviews.
@atpfm@mastodon.social How mortifying must it be to have this written about you and how much might it make you question the decisions you took.
@atpfm@mastodon.social Re: Pay-to-unlock hardware: In the 90s I supported a few hundred 3D workstations. SUN, SGI and HP (some with Itanium!).
It was common practice to have to pay extra for built-in-but-locked hardware. $5K if you purchased the option pre-enabled, or $16K after the fact, for a proprietary dongle to unlock the built-in hardware. 50% of it would go forever locked and unused, I was told.

@moralrecordings@digipres.club This is amazing. One of my favorite games of all time, getting the attention it deserves.
@atpfm@mastodon.social regarding the backlight of the new display, part of me was hoping that the algorithm used was a version of the original Mac’s Atkinson, dithering one, which in my head seems to be a good starting point for mapping images into points of light

@Luke@typo.social I remember Andy Ihnatko's review of PageMill. It sold the thing to me instantly.
