Why don’t they just get out of the industry, they clearly don’t want to be in it anymore. It’s just been stupid decision, after stupid decision, they basically have a license to print money and instead of creating the games that people want, and then selling them for people to play on their confusingly named consoles, they instead muck around with it by raise prices, closed studios and discontinuing IPs.

What’s amazing is they are proposing to introduce such a scheme in the product that people aren’t forced to use. I just won’t play those games. End of problem.

Not quite. The founding is actually worse. Bill Gates was shown, in good faith, a tech demo by, I think IBM but I may be wrong with that, for a new graphical user interface they were planning on releasing soon, and he just stole it and released windows, before they could get their product to market.

Is the Bethesda brand even valuable anymore? I feel like it might have been relevant 10 years ago but it’s kind of fallen by the wayside in recent years, mostly by their own hand.

Microsoft don’t have a distribution platform for PC games, even when they did no one used it. So the lonely be able to introduce this in games that they are the publisher for which is actually not that many games. I’m very sure steam already prohibits in-game advertising. So Microsoft would have to distribute these games themselves and the moment that any publisher decides to go their own route they immediately decrease their revenue, even if nothing else has changed.

There was nothing fundamentally wrong with the game pass idea. But that there was never anything good in it, and they kept raising the price. Sometimes they had so much filler content in there that if you discounted the games you didn’t want and only looked at the games you did want, it would have actually been cheaper to just buy the game directly. Which is in what people did.

£20,000 is more than $20,000, I’m quite surprised it cost that much though, I had my entire roof ripped off, in a storm and the cost came in at £7,000 to fix and that cost included electrical work since I wanted the attic wired for lighting again.

I think I’m an optimist because I think that eventually the various companies are going to have to start turning a profit, and I just don’t see it happening. When the investment money runs out there’s going to be a huge crash. Frivolous pointless stuff like this will drop by the wayside. What will be left is the useful applications of AI like scientific research and the automation of simple, but non-deterministic tasks that couldn’t previously be automated via a script, such as organising logistical supply chains. But AI isn’t going to replace human labour until they move away from LLM chat bots, and even then it’s just a possibility not an inevitability.

That’s just what we need, a single individual server in space with incredibly long latency times. Really useful technology. This brilliant idea is brought to you by the same people that came up with the totally workable idea of mirrors in space to charge for sunlight.

I’m not worried about AI launching nukes and destroying the world. I’m worried about idiot bosses trying to replace all human employees with AI and firing everyone. Of course it won’t work but what does that matter, they’ll destroyed the economy by the time they work that out.

Oh yeah he’s living in third world poverty conditions, and yet somehow has access to Twitter to moan about it. Something seems off. I suspect what is actually happening is that he’s in protective custody, because everyone wants to stab him either because they hate him because even criminals have standards, or because they reckon stabbing the alpha male will make them super duper extra alpha male++. If he were put in general population he’d probably be dead within 24 hours. I don’t want him to get stabbed and die, I want him to live for a really long time in a really small prison cell.

Like saying you don’t need to be a structural engineer to demolish a skyscraper. You need to be pretty well versed in computer science to be able to hack a system to any reasonable extent. If you just go ham at it and just press random buttons nothing is going to happen / you’re going to be detected. Hackers write programmes all of the time.

That’s magnetic levitation, and it’s magnetic repulsion not attraction. The push the train away from the tracks and that balances against the gravity pushing it down onto the tracks, so it levitates. Then you just oscillate the polarity of the electromagnet to move forward. It allows for extremely high speed travels since there is no friction with the tracks, but in terms of efficiency it’s not much better than a normal electric train. It’s just faster, which in commuter trends it is what you want. But it wouldn’t be much good for personal vehicle transit, even if we did magnetize all of the roads.

The company are the ones that mandate that they use the dam thing. They are actually threatening to right people up if they don’t use it enough but then not specifying what enough means. So now it’s getting used for everything. Enjoy your overly verbose email, perhaps you should get AI to summarize it. That way, we both get to use it, yay.

It’s always fun to ask these types difficult questions that they haven’t thought about. So if somebody burns your house down in an arson attack and is subsequently arrested by the police, that’s a job done is it, you are not requiring any additional support, compensation, or assistance. The fact that the miscreant has been arrested is good enough for you is it?

I think the main reason is that people didn’t notice the old data centers. There is a data centre in my town about a two minute walk from where I live, I lived here for 3 years before noticing it. It’s just a non-descript massive gray building and somehow it’s kind of invisible. I could probably ask people who’ve lived here their entire lives if they knew about the data centre, and I suspect that most of them would swear up and down that there isn’t one. It doesn’t make noise, it doesn’t generate huge amounts of traffic, it doesn’t use that much water up if any, and it has its own electrical supply. I essentially live right on top of it, yet it has basically no effect on my life. According to Google Street view it was built some time between 2015 and 2017, so it’s not an AI data centre. These new AI ones require orders of magnitude more power, and cooling. They have a much larger impact on the local environment.

You can put solar panels on earth based data centers, you could have closed loop cooling systems on earth-based data centers. The location of the data centers isn’t the problem, it’s the fact they’re not doing any of that that’s a problem. We need to stop subsidizing them. If they have the money to launch things into orbit then they have the money to build out sustainable infrastructure here on planet Earth.

The hilarious thing is that he’s only in this situation because he has put himself in this situation. He’s in prison in the US at the behest of the UK government who want him extradited. If he wasn’t fighting the extradition he wouldn’t be in the US prison system anymore. UK prisons aren’t exactly Scandinavian style, but they’re better than the US ones. Of course if he is extradited he is going to get the book thrown at him. He’ll die in prison, in like 50 years or so.

That’s the most AI written article I think I’ve ever seen. Isn’t really a story here it’s just a fishing boat pulled a drone out of the water probably after it would “shot down”. But the AI goes on and on repeating the same basic point again and again without making any real headway.

I’m also not convinced it teaching your kids that sex is a non event is a good idea either. Also I’m confused about what’s wrong with the Honda civic, if you got one with all the optional extras it would be quite expensive not that matters, but it’s just a weird vehicle to have chosen to indicate lack of money. Should have gone with something like a Nissan Micra, it would have still been the stupid take, but at least it would have made sense.

The car lost the ability to go above 20km/h When my car did that it turned out to be a very minor electrical fault that the car computer was just freaking out about, and wasn’t actually anything really serious. I think it turned out to be something really dumb like the tyre pressure sensor that had failed.

Why don’t you will just replace him as president with someone else and just don’t tell him. As long as he gets to sit in the chair for 5 minutes every day in the occasionally meet people that he’s told her international dignitaries (it’s not like you’ll check) he’ll be happy. He can rename everything to America, and have a third term, and arrest all the liberals as much as he likes.

I’m getting confused by “those things”. What things are we talking about? Are they talking about the plane, or something else. My father used to be an airline pilot and I know airline pilots can be a bit obsessive but it’s not about the plane as much as it’s about all the procedures and regulations. They mostly swear at the planes. Cabin crew mostly see it as just a job, with some bonuses that you don’t normally get. Crew don’t get assigned to a particular plane, they move around quite a lot, so they don’t really get attached to one aircraft in the way that sailors may get attached to their ship.

I wouldn’t automatically believe him either. I have no idea what prisoners in the US can really expect but at the minimum prisons are required to maintain livable conditions, so that means reasonable temperature, and access to proper sanitation, although not necessarily in the cell itself. I can totally believe the cell doesn’t have access to hot water, due to the obvious safety risk of giving problem prisoners access to hot water, but if that’s the case he will absolutely have access to public showers, and being the amazing alpha male that he is, I’m sure he has no problem at all with using communal facilities. He’s just trying to get some sympathy because he knows that if he ends up getting deported, he’s screwed.
