@db@social.lol could it be that the word "smart" is pulling a bit too much weight here?

@solarpapst@social.anoxinon.de Very simple, the media have hammered the idea that climate protestors represent "weird left outliers" and farmers while a minority in the population do represent "the regular guy"...and off course many policemen have socio-politically more affinity with farmers then with klimakleber and so while with more ease use the baton on the latter...

@stevelieber@mastodon.social I have put myself on the mailinglist and will buy this the minute it comes out...When my last HP started enshittifying and I went to the local store I asked the guy "what is a normal printer that doesn't over time enshittify?" he just shrugged in a "dude, just accept it and buy the thing"...So hoping this thing puts them out of business with a vengeance...

@katemorley@hachyderm.io @HarryMutt@social.vivaldi.net And nice chart there. If you are ever bored, try doing one based on Voting Age Population and not vote share. Because FPTP supresses turnout in places where there is a steady majority for a party (why vote as a Tory in working class parts of Manchester) and so the "percentage for ruler / ruled over population" is a better one in my eyes as it takes the full distortion of the system in account. I think the second Blair government was under 20% on that measure...

@katemorley@hachyderm.io and to bang the same nail i always do: imagine the uk had a civilized electoral system, this spelled a nice progressive left coalition government. But with a bit of bad luck reform wins this. #proportional

@theleftistlawyer@mastodon.social and even shorter, once you have these in place and a Judiciary that is fraudulent you slap all your political rivals with some ridiculous case to invalidate them to run for office. It's how Erdogan does it (see how he took out the popular mayor of Istanbul to run against him), or Putin's opponents all had some "fraud" case which unfortunately made it impossible for them to run anymore (some also leaned out of an open window off course)...
