Just another worried little citizen of this modern-day Pompeii. Scatterbrain, interested in education, languages, Space and lots of disparate things. sorry.

Happy to follow if I can see your toots and know you're a real person!

A sad day. 888 came up as a raffle ticket but *nobody*, including people older than me, remembers this as being how you got subtitles on the telly.

Don't think we need this BS on campus thanks very much. With a edgy terf whiteboard to draw the punters in.

#Islington Council logic in icy weather:
1) Lay down salt and grit throughout estate.
2) Send road sweeping vehicles to hoover up salt and grit throughout estate

@_elena Although my interaction is bursty, as it ever was on social media, I find plenty of interesting content from people I follow, and then the connections. Twitter in it's last days (for me, 2022) had become clunky, bloated and frequently toxic. Not had that problem on Masto and the bonus of being able to move instance.

Day trip to #Calais and was fascinated by the posters made during the German occupation in #WW2. Some are quite chilling and tell a story of the banality of martial law.

I'm wondering what the reason is behind the diverse gorgeous #typefaces used for each line.

I have a theory that wartime conditions meant that the printer just had to make the sections as coherent as possible with whatever type sets they had available. But it might also have been standard #design practice. Any ideas?

The Marias are my current musical obession, along with some other latino #indiepop stuff which is awesome. (Maye, Rosalia, Alicia Te Quiero, Disco Bahia).

Their music reminds me of early 90s bands like Sneaker Pimps, Dubstar, Massive Attack and Portishead.

I miss the days when artists put out CD singles with some really interesting versions of the song. They've got a couple that really go hard when performed live, like this one, "Loverboy".

I am not a big fan of #Cher but all the pointing and laughing about her #Grammys mistake seems to ignore that she's #Dyslexic, so reading a card which says Luther by Kendrick Lamar is understandably confusing.

Well shiver me timbers. The theme tune of "The Onedin Line" came on the radio the other day, and because ADHD brain does that sort of thing, I looked it up.

My god it's glorious, and I can see why it was the biggest thing on UK TV in the 1970s. Instantly hooked.

It's about a young chancer who tries to set up a shipping company in the 1800s. Compared to the styling, glamour and sophistication of today's TV series, it's almost quaint, but still quite thrilling.

@elpolacodesplegado@hessen.social @ChrisO_wiki@mastodon.social I would have thought that was more the case for specific high value targets or highly sensitive situations. Reading Trent Telenko's comments on logistics and hierarchy, the trend in Russia compared to the west has been to carry on the Empire's approach to centralised bureaucracy, and manual labour like it's 1914. Efficient systems of organisation and delivery don't work in a kleptocracy. E.g. https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1874226415186403466.html

@TrentTelenko: Gosh, This is such a logistical admission against interest by the Russian VKS I don't know where to begin. We see here a single Russian forklift operator moving a FAB-500 bomb with _chains_ wrapped ar...…
