I have some thoughts on Paul Graham's latest essay, "Founder Mode."

Paul Graham founded YCombinator. His singular influence has been to drive Silicon Valley toward producing endless Sam Altmans and zero Aaron Swartzs.

Every time he speaks, we are all worse off.

Some guy in The Atlantic is making fun of Sam Altman today.

(It’s me. The guy making fun of Sam Altman in The Atlantic is me.)

There are only two *appropriate* responses to Marc Andreessen pontificating:

(1) Roll your eyes until you leave yourself with a migraine.

(2) Point and laugh at the guy.

Today, for TechPolicyPress, I choose option 2. It's the healthy choice.

The “Little Tech Agenda” has nothing to do with innovation or technology. It’s just a VC wish list, writes Dave Karpf.

Elon Musk's grand electoral ploy is to commit a bunch of blatant election-law crimes.

Because Elon Musk thinks laws are for little people.

Yascha Mounk has some *opinions* about "where environmentalism went wrong."

I, meanwhile, have some *opinions* about Yascha Mounk's brand of zero-research/zero-insight political commentary.

Quick debate thoughts:

The Trump-Vance campaign strategy is basically to gaslight the country. Vance couldn't *quite* pull it off.

This format is about as good as JD Vance is ever going to look. And in the end, he just couldn't maintain the facade.

Nobody wins a Presidential election in September.

Debates usually have limited-duration impact.

But last night's win could have longer-term repercussions. Kamala Harris rung Donald Trump's bell, and Trump is so undisciplined that he might never find his footing.

My latest, for Foreign Policy, reviewing what Nate Silver gets wrong about risk in his latest book.

Nate Silver offers a disjointed paean to gambling and venture capitalists.
