Is there an alternative which all cars and respect bike drivers? In the end of the day, putting bikes, pedestrians and cars/busses all together is not such an easy problem to solve when you have children and elderly as passangers.
And I say this as someone who fully utilized 90% bikes and 10% public transport. No car.
It just isn't that easy problem to solve without making one group suffer more than others. Think an 80 year old being dropped off at a doctors appointment, or a child being picked up from a friend.
