Bo bo bots and sockpuppets

Is it bot accounts or just people posting things they thought were funny. ? A few ways to identify bot accounts. High activity in new accounts. High posts to comment ratios. The account only posts and never comments. But that criteria doesn’t include ai chat bots or sockpuppet accounts. They might post comments. For instance. 2 day old account with 10 posts in mostly similar communities like News, world News, politics, u.s politics. Etc. especially when posting the same articles in these different places. Activity occuring during 24hr cycles. With no 8-10 hr breaks. (Cause humans sleep). Activity in one or two specific communities only. Abrupt changes in community activity. For instance the user has been posting exclusively in political communities for a few months than switches to humor community and completely stops participating in the old one. This means the bot has been reprogrammed. Now people get bored of communities or get banned. So they move on to others. But I’m talking about a history of exclusive posting. I’m convinced there are multiple accounts promoting AI slop on Lemmy that’s started recently. AI slop usually gets 50 downvotes pretty fast. But I’m seeing aI slop with 50 + upvotes after only being up for 2 hours. Meaning bot accounts are posting and upvoting. This is , imo, intended to normalize AI slop. And stop the stigma and hate that it rightfully deserves. It’s just a few accounts posting AI.slop a few times a day or one a day but consistent. That’s not how humans behave. But I’m just providing this example as to how I consider accounts as bots or not. A motivation is an important part of bots. If they aren’t pushing a narrative than they could be just building up a history for later use. It’s harder to spot an older bot account with 2 years of random activity. Older accounts sell for much more for this reason. People who take the time to look at the user history won’t find much evidence it’s a bot if it’s 1 year old with lots of random posts in different communities.

Yeah I also found splatters on the wall. He’s such a tough little guy, he never acts like anything is wrong. I watched him eat a few times since, to see if he tilted his head to the side or gave any indication of discomfort. Nope. And still has a hearty appetite. But he has an unusually high appetite in general. I think its from being literally skin and bones when I found him. So I think maybe that experience is motivating him to eat even if he’s in pain from it. Essentially masking symptoms. It’s so hard to tell when animals can’t communicate these things. He’s also black and his lip and inner mouth area is dark skin. It makes it harder for me to tell if it’s inflamed. I’m just feeling like this needs professional attention.

So I recently had an ordeal with my cat. And your story is just making me consider my situation as maybe more urgent than I would have thought otherwise. I took in a stray back in April and recently he had some incident. So 3 days ago. He was sleeping on his cat tree. I go over to pet him. And notice there is blood all over his mouth. He’s laying there like nothing wrong. I clean him up. Can’t tell where it’s coming from. Did he bite himself ? (He’s getting over having fleas and is sensitive to them). Did he eat something sharp? Bite his tounge. Idk. I’m kinda freaking out. I called the vet that did his last checkup for a breathing issue. Not too long ago. I tell them I don’t know where the blood came from. But he’s not bleeding anymore. It’s late in the day Thursday and they are only open until noon on Friday. They said that they would check with the dr. And call me back. They did like 1 hour later. To my horror. His mouth was full of blood again. And I cleaned him and looked around the house for any sign of him injuring himself. Didn’t find anything. No blood near food bowls either. Idk what happened. He did stop bleeding that day but it was actually quite a lot of blood. The vet said on the phone to monitor him. They asked me a lot of questions. We were both trying to figure out where the injury even was. I think maybe ,(hard to say) it looked like a puncture wound near the upper left premolar. The second one. It was hard to hold him on his back, hold a flashlight and his mouth open at the same time. But he was actually mostly easy about it. But now after searching online a bit. And having a few more looks at his teeth. I think it’s possible he had a dental injury. Either a small tooth fell out. Possibly “baby tooth” . I don’t know his age but honestly that seems unlikely. He seems like a full adult. Or maybe an abscess near a tooth. Which I thought looked like a puncture wound. Or an extra tooth fell out. I myself had an extra set of molars as a kid so these things happen. Rare but it does. Idk. I’m just hearing all these stories about cat teeth. And his don’t look great. He has a lot of tartar. Compared to my 11 year old cat, his teeth are in far worse condition. My 11 year olds teeth actually look great. Very white. Clean. This new cat’s are discolored and have obvious tartar and plaque. But not extreme. No inflamed gums except in the possible injury site. He does have kinda stinky breath but don’t all cats ? It is worse than the other cat though. Idk. I’m calling the vet back Monday and asking for a dental exam and possibly see if he needs his teeth cleaned. I know it’s a big expensive ordeal. But getting it fixed early is better than him losing teeth. Ive been catastrophizing all weekend. I’m just so worried. It was so much blood. Where did it even come from?

I had an experience at a university in a college where a very old professor was giving a guest lecture and happened to refer to past people he worked with by describing their physical appearance. Now this is normal for older adults. They use mnemonic strategies. The prof literally described every single person he brought up. Yet one of these people was a good looking woman. She had been a grad student like 30 years ago and he said something like. “She was a very striking woman and had long hair”. That’s it. Not "if I had been younger " or “all the other grads wanted to bang her”. Just that short simple remark. A guy in my class lost his shit. Wanted this 75 year old esteemed professor fired. Yes. Fired. He got all the grad students who were in the class that day to sign a petition. I refused. A woman, btw. He tried to bully me to sign it. I said. “Listen dude. Ive experienced actual sexual discrimination. That wasn’t it.”. And I also pointed out that he should know, being a psych major, that it was obviously a mnemonic strategy to describe appearance because the prof did it for every person he mentioned. (Some were quite amusing). This guy wouldn’t let it go. After the prof made a public apology. Twice. This guy still wanted him fired. Eventually the dept chair came to the class and said basically. “Stfu. He’s not getting fired. He already apologized.” To add more b.s to the story. A few weeks later. Same class. Different guest speaker (class had different one every week), this new guest speaker. A young hip charismatic professor. Joked about some guy being hot and him being distracted by it. And the guy came off straight so it was like a joke. And that’s fine. Except. The guy who was gunning for the professor to get fired, along with many other classmates were sitting there laughing and joking a long and I just sat there watching them all. Like. Wtf. WTF is wrong with these fucking people. This all went down my 2nd month of grad school. You could say I was quite concerned I had chose the wrong university. Also. The old professor. Yeah. Jew. Old Jew. You know that guy had to deal with real discrimination in his life. And then here he was being harassed over saying a woman from 30 years ago was beautiful.

Amphetamines get a bad rap cause of meth heads and such. But when you compare legit lab made amphetamines with other stimulants, amphetamines win every time on 1. Having longer effects. 2. Can be less addictive when taken at lower doses. I mean. That’s literally what adderall is. It’s not a 100% safe drug. No drug is. But compared to cocaine or other stimulants it’s the winner when it comes to keeping people awake. Reducing appetite. Giving people physical energy. The effects are almost identical to cocaine. They just last longer.
